Walt married Beverly Hunt in 1970 and together they established a rug shampooing business in 1971. Walt had also worked at Atlas Plywood for a number years; worked as a night watchman at the Johnson Talc Mill; worked for the H.A. Manosh well drilling business and cleaned the Manchester offices for some time.

Walt enjoyed helping people and made many friends over the years. He had a boat and enjoyed fishing and ice fished in the winter and also liked to camp, hunt, travel, and dance. Most of all he enjoyed being around people. The last few years that Beverly was alive, they enjoyed going to Florida every winter and summered in Hyde Park and at the Eden Campground.

He is survived by his step-children, Dale Hunt and wife, Rhoda of Fairfield; Elroy Hunt and wife, Linda of Enosburg; Sherry Hunt of Burlington and Mona Smith and husband, Sherwood of Enosburg and also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Walt is predeceased by his wife, Beverly Rivers; his companion of the last few years, Marty Coan and a sister, Evelyn Adams.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 5 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Church of Johnson. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Faith Funeral Home, 165 Brooklyn St., Morrisville. Pallbearers will be Richard Westover, Tyconia Westover, Troy Brock, Penny Brock, Austin Smith and Crystal Smith

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Walt’s memory may be made to Lamoille Home Health & Hospice, 54 Farr Avenue, Morrisville, VT 05661 or Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1429, Morrisville, VT 05661.
