Mike was born May 13,1939 in Groton, MA to Nathaniel C and Margaret (O'Brien) Anderson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karen (Birdie) Anderson, his children, Kathleen McPartlan, David M Anderson, Christopher W Anderson and wife, Paula, all of Groton, Michael H Anderson, Jr. and wife Kristin of Newport, VT, his stepchildren, Matthew and Jacqueline Rogers and her husband, Christopher, his sister Nancy Irvin and husband Michael of Ft Myers Beach and brother N Carl Anderson, Jr. and wife Nancy of Pine Island MN. Mike also leave 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, all of whom adored him. He was formerly married to Anita Friedrich Anderson of Groton.

After graduating from Groton High School in 1958, Mike entered the GE Tool and Die Maker apprentice program in Pittsfield, MA (one of the last of such appointments in the US) and attended Lowell Tech. He was very proud of his apprenticeship and said it rivaled the honor of his Doctorate awarded by U/ Mass/Lowell (formerly Lowell Tech).

Mike launched his business career as a salesman with IBM after earning this way through college, sometimes working 3 jobs to support his family. After 16 years with IBM and having attained the position of Corporate Director of Strategy Evaluation in White Plains, NY, he left IBM and his professional path took him to positions all over the world. He was president of NEC NA and of Nixdorf Corp and ended his career as President, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Hogan Systems in Dallas where he met and married Birdie. There he was responsible for Hogan's success and dramatic increase in stock value.

After selling the company, he retired to Sanibel Island and Rangeley, Maine. Mike played as hard as he worked...loved golf, fishing, sailing, but his passion was refurbishing old wooden boats and historic homes. Mike left everything better than he found it. Mike served his community, too. He was a Selectman in Groton for many years, serving as Chairman and was Water Commissioner for the town and also founder of the distinguished Hollis Street Racquet Club. In Sanibel, he was a member of the prestigious Dew Sweepers and Commissioner of the Wolf Pack at the Sanctuary Golf Club.

Later tributes will follow in Groton MA and Rangeley ME. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mike's name to Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust, PO Box 349, Oquossoc ME 04964 or Rangeley Region Health Partnership, PO Box 722, Rangeley ME 04970.
