ObituaryJan 8, 1927  OBITUARY: LUCY M. DESMOND ROUNTREE - A telegram to Mrs. Jay Gates in Santa Cruz, CA this morning, Saturday, January 8, 1927, conveyed the saddening information of the death in San Fernando yesterday of Lucy M. Desmond Rountree, wife of Clarence Rountree, formerly of Santa Cruz. The telegram states that death followed the birth of a son, who, the wife states, is living.

The father is a well known Santa Cruz boy and is the son of Joseph Rountree, a powder manufacturer at Pinole and who is a brother of the late Undersheriff Rountree.

In his bereavement Mr. Rountree has the sympathy of scores of friends who knew him before and after attending the public schools in this city. He served in the army all during the world war and his life had been a happy one.

For a number of years past the Rountrees have been residing in San Fernando where Mr. Rountree has been engaged in the automobile agency business. The father of Mr. Rountree is a member of one of the pioneer families of Santa Cruz county, all of whom at one time made Felton their home.

ObituaryApr 3, 2009  OBITUARY: WEST SPRINGFIELD - Mary C. (Felitto) Mac-Queston, a lifelong resident of West Springfield, passed away on April 2. She was the daughter of the late Guiseppe and Arcangela (Giallorenzo) Felitto, who had emigrated from Atena Lucana, Italy in 1912. Her father died when she was very young, and she was raised with a strong work ethic and sense of self-sufficiency. Mary told many wonderful stories of what it was like to grow up in West Springfield in the 1920's and 1930's. As a young girl she often walked to Springfield to visit her Gentile and Spagna cousins in the South End, and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Family and Church were first and foremost in her life. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Church in West Springfield, and devout Catholic who spent many hours in daily prayer throughout her life. Mary was very proud of her Italian heritage, her family and she was also a great cook. She was an employee of Notion Thread for a number of years up to her retirement. She was predeceased by her husband Vernon "Ted" MacQueston, who died in 1967. She will be greatly missed by her loving children: Linda Stone and her husband Kevin of West Springfield, Gary and his wife Susan of Somers, CT, Mark and his wife Teresa of Windham, ME, grandchildren Michael Carlotto, Tina Mulvey, Christine Lamb, Candace Jenkins, Brett MacQueston, Shannon MacQueston, Kyle MacQueston, Ryan MacQueston, great-grandchildren Allison, Keith, Nicco, Jaden, Alexa, Samm, Lauren Marie, Hayden and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves a sister Florence Tuber of Springfield. Her sisters, Teresa Pizzimenti, Frances Leone, and Cora Palpini predeceased her. The funeral will be held Monday at 10 am. from the Toomey O'Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St, West Springfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Thomas Church at 11 am. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home, are Sunday 4 to 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Italian Cultural Center of Western Massachusetts, 56 Margaret St, Springfield, MA 01105.

ObituarySep 17, 2012  OBITUARY: BURLINGTON - Eileen "Peggy" Lorrain, 89, of Burlington, went to be with the Lord and the love of her life, Don Lorrain, on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, with her family by her side.

She was born on Oct. 20, 1922, in London, England, the daughter of Albert and Lilian Goodall.

She married the love of her life, Clement "Donald" Lorrain, in London, on June 3, 1944. He predeceased her on June 1, 1989.

Peggy was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church, where she was very proud to have taught religious education for several years; and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. Peggy liked to bowl, bowling on the Catholic Daughters team and later on the XY League. She was an avid Yankees fan and loved to watch golf and tennis, and was especially pleased that her fellow countryman, Andy Murray, won the Olympic Gold Medal and the US Open. Mom was most happy when she had many of her family members around the dining room table for one of her wonderful meals. She was a great cook and always managed to have everything piping hot when it was served.

Peggy is survived by her children, daughter, Jean Lorrain, and son, Derek Lorrain Sr. and wife, Patricia, all of Burlington; two grandchildren, Pamela Wooster of Burlington, and Derek Lorrain Jr. and wife, Christy; four greatgrandchildren, Samantha Lorrain, Nathan Lorrain, Jacob Wooster, and Elizabeth Lorrain; nephew, Richard Forcier; nieces, Joanne Sheppard, and Carol Hummel and their families of Connecticut; a special niece, Janet Wilkinson and husband, Terry, and a special nephew, Norman King and wife, Denny, both of England.

Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m. at LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St., Winooski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at 11 a.m. in St. Mark Catholic Church in Burlington. Interment will follow in New Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
