Rosa was a homemaker and raised 16 children along with her husband on the family farm. Her family was the center of her life and she truly enjoyed the time she spent with them. She loved to make bread, braid rugs and make blankets. She continued gardening up to the age of 92. She was a member of the Vermont Council of the Arts and Catholic Daughters Group, Court St. Veronica's, #1273.

She is survived by daughters, Marguerite LaBree of Lyndonville, Angeline Deschamps (Louis) of Hardwick, Theresa Rayta (Donald) of N. Hyde Park, Lucile Keene of Hardwick, and Denise Adams (Wendell) of Canaan, N.H; sons, Clement Patoine of Sutton, Leo Patoine (Jeanette) of Lyndonville, Normand Patoine (Winnie) of Woodsville, N.H., Bernard Patoine (Cecile) of St. Johnsbury Center, Fernand Patoine of Hardwick, Frank Patoine (Elsie) of Walden, Lawrence Patoine (Evelyn Perry) of Hardwick, Victor Patoine (Kathryn) of Wolcott, Guy Patoine (Rolanda ) of Hardwick, and Andre Patoine of Sutton; 55 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; and 32 great-great grandchildren.She was predeceased by her husband, Henry J. Patoine; a son, Henry E. Patoine; grandson, Phillip Patoine; granddaughters, Doris Boulay and Katherine Patoine; son-in-law, Raymond LaBree; daughters-in-law, Donna Patoine, Marguerite Patoine, and Therese Patoine; and several siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at 11 a.m. at St. Norbert's Church in Hardwick. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the des Groseilliers Funeral Home, 97 Church St., Hardwick. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.

ObituaryMay 6, 2003  OBITUARY: William R. “Chief” Hall, Jr., 86, of Jericho, VT, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, May 4, 2003, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Philadelphia, PA, on Feb. 14, 1917, son of the late William R. Hall Sr., and Maria R. (Wentzel) Hall.

In 1935, Bill was living in Staten Island, NY. He was employed at United Shipyard and at Bethlehem Steel for about 15 years.

While serving with the Merchant Marines in 1939, he sailed with American Republic Lines on the S.S. Uruguay; in 1940, the Santa Lucia Grace Line.

It was also in 1940 that he married the former Mary M. L’Ecuyer.

In 1945, he sailed aboard the Blue Ridge Victory Troop Ship in Italy, France and Africa. In 1947, he was aboard the tanker Wallace E. Pratt from Bayonne, NJ to Baytown, TX and from 1948 to 1951, Army Engineer Dredge Goethals and Dredge Saonnes.

In 1951, Bill moved to Colchester and worked for Sherman Electric, General Electric, and at the firing range in Jericho for nine years.

In 1955, he enlisted with the U.S.C.B. Reserve as construction electrician chief, retiring in 1977. He was also employed with A.C. Senical Co. of Shrewsbury, MA, and then worked at the University of Vermont for 15 years as a master electrician from 1965 to 1979.

Bill loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed going to UVM basketball and soccer games.

Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Hall; two daughters, Sharon M. Brigham and her husband, Todd, and Deborah A. Brodeur and her husband, Steve; son-in-law, Doug Crowley; eight grandchildren, Tom Crowley, Vanessa Crowley, Sandra Thibault and her husband, Norman, Allyson Crowley-Webster and her husband, Francis, Jennifer Brodeur, Rob Prim, and Lisa Jones and her husband, Morris; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Brandon, Bryan, Michael, John, Susan, Alex, Melissa, Gary and Ryan; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Mary M. Crowley, and by a grandson, William “Billy” Crowley.

The Hall family would like to give special thanks to the Jericho-Underhill Lions Club, the Chittenden County Dialysis Unit, Fletcher Allen Health Care, Green Mountain Nursing Home and all the doctors and nurses who cared for all Bill’s needs.

A celebration of William’s life will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the United Christian Assembly, 100 Raceway Road, Jericho. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chittenden County Dialysis Unit, 35 Joy Drive, South Burlington, VT 05403. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, May 6, 2003 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St., Winooski, VT.
