ObituaryDec 10, 2015  OBITUARY: ENOSBURG FALLS – Dorothy E. Lawyer, age 87, passed away Tuesday evening December 8, 2015 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans with her loving family at her side.

She was born in Enosburgh on September 20, 1928 the daughter of the late Lyman & Ethel (Lawyer) Dudley.

Dorothy was employed at the sewing factories in Enosburg Falls and Richford and the Hockey Stick Factory in Richford. She enjoyed to read, doing crossword puzzles, watching the Lifetime channel as well as other T.V. shows, camping, playing darts, snowmobiling, baking and flowers. Most of all she loved to spend time with her grandchildren and their families.

She is survived by her children, Ronald Lawyer and his wife Joan of Swanton, Connie Curtis and her husband Earl of Alburgh, Donna Casavant and her husband Jim of Hardwick, Lyman Lawyer and his wife Karla of Enosburgh, Candice Combs and her husband Stephen of Richford, Michael Lawyer and his fiancé Kelli Peters of Richford, and twins, Jeffrey Lawyer and his wife Kim of Enosburg Falls, and Jacqueline Garrow and her husband Robert of Malone, NY; her Grandchildren, Tina Gilbeau, Terry Noyes her fiancé Eddie Paquette, John Marchessault and wife Gill, Tony Marchessault and wife Eva, Lisa Maskell and husband Dennis, Bobby Tanner and wife Roxanne, Lyman Lawyer Jr., Travis Lawyer and wife Elizabeth Pieciak, Stevie Combs Jr. and fiancé Amanda Mayhew, Casey Combs and significant other Phillip Kittell, Travis Lawyer and wife Destiny, Krista Brown, Kirsten Lawyer and fiancé Curtis Brown, Amber Lawyer and partner Ben Wright, Keshia Lawyer and partner Cody Sheltra, Jeffrey “J.J.” Lawyer and partner Alex Gover , Jeremy Brunton and wife Tonya, Shannon Labarge and husband Clarence, Alison Garrow and Christopher Garrow; and many Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren; step grandchildren, Tim Curtis and wife Rebekah, Amee Curtis and husband Tyler, Andrew Curtis, Stephanie Curtis, Nedah Warstler and husband Ben, Ben Peters, Amy Peters, Amanda Peters her partner Andrew Ouinette, Mary Grennan, Aspen Ladue & Gage Ladue; her Siblings, Donald Putnam and his wife Gretchen, Myron Dudley and his wife Esther all of Highgate, and Cathy Robarge and her husband Keith of Richford; many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Sunday, December 13, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Hill West Cemetery, West Hill, Montgomery. There will be no visiting hours.

Iona was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Wallingford, daughter of the late Peter and Ethel (Rabtoy) Garrow. She graduated from Wallingford High School in 1944. Iona married Alfred J. Bumps on Sept. 3, 1950, in Wallingford. After raising her family, Iona went to work for MetroMail, then General Electric Aviation, retiring in 1988. Iona and her husband, Alfred, traveled the United States in their motor home with their Gold Wing motorcycle in tow, visiting the 48 contiguous United States, Alaska and all the Canadian Provinces. When their traveling was completed, they made their winter home in Winter Garden, Florida. She enjoyed spending time with family, dancing, snowmobiling, motorcycle riding and camping. Iona is survived by daughter Marjorie Barone and husband Tom, of East Wallingford, and son Kevin Bumps, of Mount Holly. She was the proud "Mimi" of eight grandchildren Stephen Bruckner, Mark Barone, Jesse LaFrancis, Chris LaFrancis, Ryan LaFrancis, Brent LaFrancis, Vanessa Bumps, Peter Bumps; and nine great-grandchildren. Iona is also survived by her brother, Peter Garrow and wife Audrey (her best friend), of Mount Holly. Iona was predeceased by her husband, Alfred, in 2015; infant son William in 1958; daughter Joanne Greenwood in 2012; son-in-law Alan Greenwood in 2005; and sisters Dorothy Hawkins and Mary Hawkins. Respecting Iona’s wishes, there will be no services.

There will be a private burial in Maple Grove Cemetery, East Wallingford, at the family’s convenience. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Aldous Funeral Home.

Alfred has gone to a place where the sun always shines, the road is wide open, and there is a warm breeze on his face riding his Gold Wing.
Alfred was born June 19, 1929, in Rutland, the son of Lewis and Emma (Snack) Bumps. He graduated from Rutland High School in 1947. He served in the Army National Guard stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
Alfred married Iona "Onie" Garrow on September 3, 1950 in Wallingford. He had worked for New England Telephone Co. and Valley View Creamery. Alfred retired as a toolmaker from General Electric Co. with 32 years of service. After retirement, Alfred and Onie traveled the United States multiple times in their motorhome with motorcycle in tow, visiting forty-nine states and all of the Canadian Provences. When they tired of the road, they spent their winters in Winter Garden, Florida. Alfred was a charter and lifetime member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) Chapter A.
Alfred is survived by his wife of 65 years, daughter Marjorie Barone and her husband Tom of East Wallingford and son Kevin Bumps of Mount Holly. He was the proud "Bumpa" of eight grandchildren, Stephen Bruckner, Mark Barone, Jesse LaFrancis, Chris LaFrancis, Ryan LaFrancis, Brent LaFrancis, Peter Bumps, and Vanessa Bumps and eight great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by daughter Joanne Greenwood in 2012 and her husband Alan Greenwood in 2005, infant son William in 1958, Brother Edson Bumps and Sister Lucille Johnson.
Respecting Alfred's wishes, there will be no calling hours. There will be a private burial service at Maple Grove Cemetery in East Wallingford at the convenience of the family.
Contributions may be made in Alfred's memory to The Rutland Health Foundation, RAVNA & Hospice, 435 West Street, Rutland VT 05701

He was born on November 4, 1925, in East Wallingford, the son of Maurice R. and Vera A. (Jewell) Hawkins.

Mr. Hawkins enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII.

He married Sally Garrow on August 21, 1948.

Mr. Hawkins had been employed as a bus driver by the Vermont Transit Co. for over 37 years, retiring in 1988.

He was a member of the St. Patrick Church and a former member of the American Legion.

Mr. Hawkins enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Hawkins of Wallingford; two sons, Thomas Hawkins and his wife Linda of Clarendon and Jeffrey Hawkins and his wife Sharon of White River Junction; two sisters, Ruth Bixby of East Wallingford and Annice Perry of Wells; a brother, Lester Hawkins of Clarendon; four grandchildren, a great-grandson; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Maurice Hawkins, Kenneth L. Hawkins and Edgar Hawkins.

There will be no calling hours.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Patrick Church, Wallingford. Burial will be at a later date in the St. Patrick Cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Wallingford-Aldous Funeral Home.
