ObituaryMay 8, 2003  OBITUARY: MONTGOMERY - Richard S. "Kaiser" Elkins, age 91, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at the Holiday House Nursing Home in St. Albans with his family at his side. Richard was born April 7, 1912, in Montgomery, the son of the late Burt and Lillian (Kennett) Elkins.

Richard was a life long resident of Montgomery where he was a member of the Montgomery Community Baptist Church and was a former member of the Masons. He drove the horse drawn school barge when he was a teenager and was employed by W. Chaffee for many years as a mechanic, pulp truck driver and helped with sugaring. He also worked for Arthur St. Onge farming and as a mechanic. He was also Road Commissioner for the Town of Montgomery for several years.

He is survived by four sons, Richard Elkins and his wife, Linda, of Colchester, Lyndol Elkins and his wife, Lila, of Montgomery, Francis Elkins and his wife, Linda, of Montgomery, and Rocky Elkins and his friend Lori Gaudette of Enosburg Falls; three daughters, Elaine Sheltra and her friend Carmen Mayhew of Richford, Charlotte Parent and her husband, Raymond, of Enosburg Falls, and Brenda Ostrout and her husband, Joseph, of Montgomery; 25 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Burton Donna of Enosburg Falls and Robert Donna of Highgate; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorcas (Donna) Elkins. They had been married for 64 years. He was also predeceased by a sister, Ruth Fitch, and a grandson, Keith Noyes.

In keeping with Richard's wishes, he will be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, May 12, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the Montgomery Baptist Church with Pastor Bruce Patterson of the Northside Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Montgomery Center Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.

ObituaryNov 16, 2020  OBITUARY: SHELDON – Virgina “Jinny” Dulude, 89, of Sheldon, Vermont, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend left this world on November 15, 2020. As we sat with her while she made her peaceful journey, we were reminded that one's legacy is not marked by their death or the challenges they faced, but rather, the memories they were fortunate enough to create and share with family.

Virginia was born on May 15, 1931 to Roger and Hildred (Whitehead) Lumbra. She graduated from Richford High School in 1949. On April 21, 1951 she married the love of her life, Jerry Dulude. Together they had three children, Monica, Kevin and Timothy.

In 1960, Jinny and Jerry opened Dulude’s Body Shop, until Jerry retired in 2000. Jinny also owned and operated “The Fashion Boutique” in Enosburg Falls for 28 years with her dear friend and cousin, Avis Gervais. She was a proud member of the “Modern Dozen” card club for 60 years and was also a member of St. John the Baptist Church, where she served as a catechism teacher for many years. She loved to read, play 500 with family and friends, and attend Joanie’s paint class.

Jinny will be remembered for her loving and generous spirit. She shined as a grandmother “Gram” and Nana. Gram loved baking and cooking us her famous recipes, knitting her famous scarves, painting special things for our homes, but most of all she loved the holidays, a time where her family could all come together to celebrate and enjoy time spent. Gram was overjoyed when she was able to spend time with her great grandchildren, Averi, Brady, Thalen, Grayson, Kayah, and Freya. She loved to play board games and bake with them, take them out to lunch, and spoil them in any way she could. While she will be missed by all, we will find solace in the time spent and the memories we were able to share with her.

Jinny is survived by her children Monica (Dulude) Garrow and her husband David Garrow of Enosburg Falls, Kevin Dulude of Enosburg Falls, and Timothy Dulude and family of Berkshire. Her grandchildren, Kristi Garrow and her partner Chris of Saint Albans, Kylene (Garrow) Flowers and her husband Kyle of Enosburg Falls, Kelli Garrow and her partner, Stephen of Enosburg Falls. Her great grandchildren, Averi, Brady, Thalen, Grayson, Kayah, and Freya. She is also survived by her sister, Penny Terkanian of Biloxi, Mississippi. She also is survived by her sister-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Jerry Dulude and her brothers Roger, Richard, and Ronald Lumbra.

The family wants to express our deep appreciation and gratitude to Northwestern Medical Center and Franklin County Home Health for the care she received and for making her final days peaceful. A special thanks to Sue Paquette for your support and always making sure Gram’s hair looked amazing! Madeline for the love and care you provided. Avis, Mary, and Janice, she always looked forward to cards and wine, to Joanne for the many lunch dates and phone calls. And to her beloved Sister-in-law, Jean Lumbra for the many visits, she truly appreciated the times she shared with you.

Friends and family are invited to attend Jinny’s Life Celebration events to include the following. Visitation on Thursday, November 19, 2020 from 4-7:00 PM at the Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020 at 2:00 PM at St. John the Baptist Church, Missisquoi St., Enosburg Falls, VT. Interment will be held at the family’s convenience in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.

Born at home, in St. Albans, on July 3, 1938, he was the son of the late Ernest M. Cantell and Eleanor M. (Hojaboom) Kretzenger.

Michael was 75 years old.

On April 10, 1962, in St. Albans, he married Judith Bedore, who survives him.

He was a 1956 graduate of Bellows Free Academy and then went to work for Central Vermont Railroad until he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1957. He was assigned to the U.S.S. Boston Guided Missile Cruiser (CG1).Upon completion of 4 years in the Navy, he was discharged with the rank of BT3, he then enlisted in the United Sates Army and served for 2 years. Upon his honorable discharge he went to work for General Electric in Burlington. He then started an 18 year career as a meat cutter with the former A&P Market, Grand Union and then worked for Price Chopper. Michael always had a passion for truck driving, so during his retirement years he drove for Wildcat Construction.

Michael was a former member of St. Albans Lodge 1566, B.P.O.E and St. Albans Lodge 1090, L.O.O.M., enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and was an avid reader, especially about ancient history. His greatest enjoyment was being with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Judy, of St. Albans; their children, Deborah Thursh and her significant other, Louis Badger, of St. Albans, Christopher Michael Cantell of France, Richard Wallace Cantell and his wife, Joan, of Highgate and Teddy Cantell and his significant other, Becky Tipper, of Sheldon; his grandchildren, Joshua Thrush of Illinois, Jennifer, Jane and Ann Cantell of Boston; Mathew, Alexys and Dalton Cantell-Tipper of Sheldon and a great granddaughter, Haydi Thrush of Illinois. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Connie Price of Anchorage, Alaska and Kathy Ann Martin of Largo, Florida as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his brother, James W. "Wally" Cantell and step-father, John Kretzenger.

At Michael's request he was cremated and a small family gathering will be held at a later date.

ObituaryApr 24, 1997  OBITUARY: ST. ALBANS BAY - Mrs. Bernice E. Cantell, age 80, went home with the Lord Wednesday morning, April 23, 1997 from the Fletcher Allen Health Center. She was born in Burlington September 2, 1916 daughter of the late Henry and Odell (Foisy) Bezio.

She married Kenneth Cantell October 15, 1938 and together they operated a dairy farm for many years, Bernice was a communicant of Holy Angels Church, a longtime member of Lakeside Grange #309 and Pamona Grange and a member of A.A.R.P.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty and her husband Arnold Hope of St. Albans Bay; four grandchildren, Robin Hope of Essex Jct., Wendy Hope of Swanton, Karen and her husband Jeffrey King of St. Albans, Kenneth Hope of St. Albans and his fiancée Deborah Sabourin of Montreal, Quebec; seven wonderful great-grandchildren, Jamie, Dyland, Joshua and Kasey King, Morgan, ryan and James Hope; a brother, Donald (Pete) and his wife Lenore Dezio of Burlington; two sisters, Theresa and her husband Walter LaBounty and Elsie Quinn, all of South Burlington; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth October 26, 1984 and by three sisters and four brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11a.m. in Holy Angels Church. There will be no public calling hours. Memorials may be made to the Vermont Kidney Association, Boc 244, Burlington, Vt. 05402-0244 or the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

Burial will be later this spring in the Cantell family lot in St. Albans Bay Cemetery

Arrangements are by the Brady & Levesque Funderl Home.

ObituaryAug 16, 2016  OBITUARY: SHELDON – Judith M. Cantell, a lifelong area resident, passed away peacefully Aug. 13, 2016, in her home with her loving family at her side.

She was born in Colchester at the Fanny Allen Hospital on Feb. 12, 1943, the daughter of the late Noe Joseph and Leona H. (Bovat) Bedore. Judith was 73 years old.

On April 10, 1962, in St. Albans, she married Michael A. Cantell for 51 years. He passed away on October 8, 2013. “Forever their hearts are as one.”

Judy went to work for Fonda Container in St. Albans and was employed for 21 years as a machinist. She also worked for many years as a caregiver. Her love and compassion for others is truly a gift of the heart and made her so special. She was always giving to others before herself.

Her family was most important to her and there wasn’t a day that went by, that she didn’t say, “I Love You” to her family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Debra Thrush and her significant other, Louis Badger III, of St. Albans, Christopher Michael Cantell of France, Richard Wallace Cantell and his wife, Joan, of North Carolina and Teddy Cantell and his significant other, Becky Tipper, of Sheldon; her grandchildren, Joshua Thrush of Illinois, Jane, Jennifer and Ann Cantell of Boston, Matthew, Alexys and Dolton Cantell Tipper of Sheldon and a great-granddaughter, Haydie Thrush of Illinois.

Judy is also survived by two sisters, Joyce Ann Grenier of Claremont, N.H., Helena McRae of Fairfax; a brother, Wilfred Bedore and his wife, Irene, of Montpelier, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Judith was predeceased by a brother, Chandler Bedore and sister, Catherine Bressette.

Judith’s family would like to thank the staff of Franklin County Home Health and Hospice for all their loving support during this difficult time. With your help, you made it possible for Judy to be home with her family.

At Judith’s request, she was cremated and a small family gathering will be held at a later date.
