ObituaryOct 18, 2003  OBITUARY: LEMPSTER, N.H. -- Lula Irene Simonds, 78, of Lempster Street, Lempster, N.H., died Friday evening, Oct. 17, 2003, at Integrated Health Services of New Hampshire in Claremont.
She was born in Waterville, Vt. on April 21, 1925, the daughter of Chester Sumner and Laura Mae (Eldred) Wright. She had resided in Lempster since 1997, and previously lived in Unity for 20 years, and Montgomery, Vt. for 30 years. She worked at Hampshire Mfg. Co. in the Packing Department for two years. She enjoyed flowers, cooking, the birds, and animals.
The surviving family includes her husband, George W. Simonds of Lempster, whom she married on Oct. 30, 1990; eight daughters, Laura Britton of Keene, twins, Ila Wilson of Ontario, Canada, and Lila Elkins of Montgomery, Vt., Donna Armstrong of Champlain, N.Y., Pauline Domina of Richford, Vt., Betty Kidder of Thornton, Colo., Ann Roy of Springfield, Vt., and Brenda Seymour of Unity, N.H; five sons, Walter Garrow of Windsor, Vt., Ralph Garrow of Richford, Vt., Dale Garrow and Scott Garrow, both of Claremont, NH, and Steve Simonds of Lempster, NH; 27 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; two sisters, Ila Bowdish of Middlebury, Vt; and Velma St. Jock of Troy, N.Y; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one daughter, Katherine Garrow in 1953.
Friends were able to call at the Stringer Funeral Home in Lempster, N.H. on Sunday evening, Oct. 19, 2003, and this afternoon from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. The funeral services were held this afternoon (Monday) at 1 p.m. at the Funeral Home, with Pastor Pat Hoadley of the Assembly of God Church in East Berkshire, Vt. Interment followed in Lempster Cemetery.

ObituaryJul 28, 2021  OBITUARY: Laura L. (Garrow) Britton, 75, a longtime resident of Keene and formerly of Walpole died on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. She passed peacefully in the familiar surroundings of her home.

Laura was born the daughter of the late Lula I. (Wright) and Gordon Garrow on October 12, 1945 in Montgomery, VT. She was educated in VT. where she attended local schools.

In 1975 she exchanged vows with Henry Britton in Putney, VT. They were married with family and friends in attendance. Sadly, Henry passed on February 17, 1999 after twenty-four years of marriage.

She was employed at Keene State College, Unico Environmental Services as an Environmental Technician. For twenty-five years until her retirement in 2001.

She enjoyed working on word puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, religiously reading her newspaper every day and being with family.

Mrs. Britton is survived by her children; Melinda Supernois of Claremont and Barbara Flood of Kennebunk, ME. Children from a combined marriage; Daniel Britton of Enterprise, AL. John Britton and his wife, Cheryl of Winchester, Sonya Trusk and her husband Charlie of Keene and Jody Goodell and her husband, Todd of Swanzey. A son in-law, Michael Willard of Richmond. Her siblings; Ila Wilson of Elk Lake, Ontario, Canada. Lila Elkins and her husband, Lyndol of Montgomery Center, VT. Donna Armstrong and her husband, Leonard of Champlain, N.Y. Pauline Domina of Richford, VT. Ralph Garrow of Richford, VT. Dale Garrow and his wife, Roberta of Claremont. Betty Kidder of Thornton, CO. Ann Roy and her partner, Mike Thornton of Windsor, VT. Brenda Seymour and her husband, Arthur of Unity and Scott Garrow and his wife, Becky of Claremont. In addition, she leaves; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Laura is pre-deceased by her daughter, Lisa Willard who passed on March 15, 2017. Her siblings; Katherine Garrow in 1953, Gordon Garrow in 2001, Lula Symonds in 2003 and Walter Garrow in 2006.

In keeping with Laura’s wishes there are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 10am. in the family lot at Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Ave. Keene, NH. 03431. Flowers will gladly be accepted. ObituaryApr 6, 2017  OBITUARY: Carl B. "Burt" Haberman, formerly of Lowell, Chelmsford, and Dracut, passed away on April 4, 2017, in Meredith, New Hampshire, after a lengthy illness, aged 91 years. He was the beloved husband of the late Rita (DiRocco) Haberman, with whom he had celebrated nearly 50 years of marriage.

Born in Chelmsford, February 4, 1926, he was the son of the late Carl Y. and Lena (Parkhurst) Haberman. Carl was a Seaman First Class in the U. S. Navy during World War II, having served on the USS Alaska.

Burt loved sports of any kind, especially baseball, bowling, and golf. He was a strong family man with attributes too long to list, but singing was always his special passion. He was a featured vocalist with the Highland Players of Lowell for 25 years.

"Papa" is survived by four daughters; Nancy Merrill and her husband Jim of Palm Coast, FL, Deborah Francione and her husband Frank of Laconia, NH, Carla Salerno and her husband Jim of Moultonborough, NH, and Lisa Farnham and her husband Mike of San Diego, CA; a son, Scott Haberman and his wife Debbie of Lowell, 16 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Carlene Buote and her husband Dick of Dracut, and two brothers, Warren Haberman and his wife Anne of Raymond, NH, and Bob Haberman and his wife Sylvia of Tilton, NH. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins.

His Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 AM. Interment with Military Honors in Fairview Cemetery, Chelmsford.

ObituaryApr 22, 2010  OBITUARY: A Memorial service will be held for Donald George Haberman, 80, husband of Donna Lee Haberman, on Saturday, April 24th at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Westford. Mr. Haberman passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, in Manning, South Carolina.
Born February 25, 1929, in Dunstable, MA., he was the son of the late Carl and Lena (Parkhurst) Haberman.
He was a United States Army Air Corps veteran.
Don resided in Westford and established his painting contracting business, Don Haberman & Son, which he owned and operated for 40 years which his son still operates. He was known for his expertise in his trade, painting houses in Harvard, Groton, Lexington, Concord and Westford.
He was a member of the Westford Volunteer Fire Department and its recording secretary before Westford had a full time fire department.
He was also an active member of the Kiwanis Club, and the Westford Sportsman Club.
He was an active sports enthusiast, competing for many years at Brunswick Lanes in various bowling leagues with his family members.
For over 30 seasons, he could be found each week ringside at the Lowell Golden Gloves and enjoyed sharing his prime seats with family, colleagues and friends. In his free time, he belonged to the Groton Country Club and the Nabnasset Country Club where he met his wife and enjoyed playing golf in numerous leagues and tournaments. He enjoyed traveling to play golf at various courses locally and in Maine and NH as well as an annual trip to Myrtle Beach, SC.
One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He often enjoyed playing cards with his brother and sisters-in-law on weekend evenings. He retired to Manning, SC, where he enjoyed playing cribbage and golf with his wife, Donna. He loved the outdoors and the ability to spend time in the yard year round with his two companions, Holly and Bessie, their two Shelties.
He and his wife watched and followed New England Sports, particularly the Red Sox and New England Patriots. His twinkling blue eyes and his love of sharing stories will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife Donna, he is survived by three daughters, Donalene Groom and husband, Thomas of Westford, MA, Candice Garner of So. Berwick, ME, and Kristin Knowlton and her husband, Steve, of Ipswich, MA; a son, Donald George Haberman, Jr. of Groton, MA; three brothers, Carl Haberman of Hudson, NH, Robert Haberman of Tilton, NH and Warren Haberman of Raymond, NH; a sister, Carlene Buote of Dracut, MA; seven grandchildren, Timothy, Amanda, and Mallory Groom of Westford, Mollie Haberman of Windham, NH, Nicolette Gardner of So. Berwick, ME, Camryn and Jordyn Knowlton of Milford, NH and Ella and Cadence Doran of Westford, MA. He leaves behind many friends including his lifelong friends Dick and Ingrid Sevigny of Virginia. He was predeceased by a brother, Ed Haberman, and a sister, Beverly Haberman.
In 1982, Donald donated his kidney to his sister, Beverly, and they both enjoyed healthy and active lives for many years afterward.

ObituaryFeb 14, 2018  OBITUARY: Robert W. Haberman, 90, a longtime resident of Tilton died Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia following a period of failing health. Bob was born in Chelmsford, MA, June 23, 1927, son of Carl Ian and Lena (Parkhurst) Haberman. He graduated from Lowell High School, class of 1945, and joined the Navy soon after. Bob then attended Franklin Technical Institute in Boston, where he received his Engineering education. His first job was at General Electric.

In Dec. 1953, Bob traveled to San Diego, California, intending to go into the painting/contracting business with his friend, Carver Tripp. There, Bob met his wife, Sylvia, in a paint store where she was in charge of the Western Union agency. They married 6 months later, on June 27, 1954, and were blessed to have nearly 64 years of loving marriage. They have 2 daughters, Sue (husband, Robert Vanderbeck) of Nashua NH, and Wendy of Allendale NJ, and a son, Robert Jr. of San Mateo CA. Sue and Bob have 2 children (Quinn and Kim), and Wendy has 2 children (Jared and Ethan).

Their lifetime with horses began in 1958, starting 45 years of raising, breeding and showing horses. In 1970, they moved from southern California to Enosburg Falls, VT, purchasing a 200 acre farm, taking 6 horses with them.

Bob attended UVM and obtained his teaching degree in 1974, after which time he taught engineering classes, in junior/senior high schools for the next 8 years in VT. They moved to NH in 1977 where he taught in State Community Colleges in Claremont, Laconia and Manchester.

In 1985, they purchased a farm in Tilton. In 1988, Bob retired from teaching and put his focus into his horses and extensive community involvement, including the Tilton Planning Board. Bob was very involved with the United Methodist Church of Tilton where he sang in the choir, expressing his lifelong love of - and gift for - singing. The church and church-family have been very important to Bob and Sylvia throughout the years.

Bob was known to be a quiet and kind man with many attributes. One of 7 children, Bob was predeceased by, sister, Beverly Haberman; brothers, Edwin, Donald and Burt Haberman.

He leaves his wife of almost 64 years, Sylvia (Hall) Haberman of Tilton; Daughters, Sue Vanderbeck and her husband, Robert of Nashua, NH, Wendy Haberman of Allendale, NJ, his son, Robert W. Haberman Jr. of San Mateo, CA., 4 grandchildren ; Brother, Warren Haberman of Raymond, NH., Sister, Carlene Buote of Dracut, MA., and
many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will not take place. A service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:00 A. M. at the T-N United Methodist Church, 400 West Main St., in Tilton. A luncheon will follow in the undercroft of the church.

Bob will be interred at a later date at the New Hampshire State Veteran’s Cemetery in Boscawen.
