Born in Enosburg, VT, April 1, 1888, he had lived here for 47 years. He had been employed as a machinist at Rogers Cutlery, retiring many years ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Garrow celebrated their 50th anniversary in April. Besides his wife, he leaves one son, Robert, of Northampton, and three brothers, Donald of Bridgeport, VT, Gordon of New Hampshire, and I.J. Garrow of Norwich, NH.

A private funeral will be held in the Newell Funeral Home on Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

Mrs. Garrow was born Aug. 24, 1901, the daughter of George and Cora (Wilson) Farmer. She was a member of the Tyler Branch Grange 498, the Enosburg Senior Citizens Young at Heart and the Enosburg Falls United Methodist Church

She is survived by four sons, Harold Garrow of Norwich, Conn., Gordon Garrow of Montgomery, Clifford Garrow of Moretown and Leonard Garrow of Georgia; four daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Florence) Cameron of St. Albans, Mrs. Louis (Evelyn) Malerba of Norwich, Mrs. Marjorie Duhaine of Norwich and Mrs. Frances Gauvin of Tenbrooke, Ontario; one brother, Gilbert Farmer of New York; one sister, Mrs. Doris Glynn of Massachusetts; 52 grandchildren and more than 60 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Frank Garrow, and a daughter, Marion Revot, in 1976.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 29, 1987 at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Enosburg Falls. Interment will be in the spring at Montgomery Village Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home on Dickinson Avenue, Enosburg Falls. For those who wish, contributions may be made in her memory to the Tyler Branch Grange 498, in care of Ken Pillsbury, RFD, Enosburg, VT 05450, or the Enosburg Senior Citizens Young at Heart, in care of Mrs. Marguerite Johnson, Enosburg Falls, VT 05450.

ObituarySep 13, 2001  OBITUARY: MONTGOMERY (WEST HILL), VT – Gordon H. Garrow, age 77, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, at VerDelle Village Extended Care Facility in St. Albans following a long illness. He was born in Montgomery on Nov. 17, 1923, the son of the late Isadore and Alice (Farmer) Garrow.

Gordon has been a resident of West Hill since 1948 and a former resident of Richford. He was employed as a farmer, highway construction employee and later was self-employed as a carpenter, retiring in 1975. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and Legion Post #12 of Richford.

He is survived by four sons, Walter Garrow and his wife Cindy of Hartland, Ralph Garrow of Richford, Dale Garrow and his wife Roberta of Claremont, N.H; eight daughters, Laura Britton of Keene, N.H., Ila Wilson of Elk Lake, Ont., Lila Elkins and her husband Lyndol of Montgomery Ctr.., Donna Armstrong and her husband Leonard of Champlain, N.Y., Pauline Domina of Berkshire, Betty Kidder of Thornton, Colo., Ann Roy of Springfield, and Brenda Seymour and her husband Arthur of Unity, N.H; two brothers, Leonard Garrow of Port St. Lucia, Fla., and Clifford Garrow of Waterbury; four sisters, Florence Cameron of St. Albans, Evelyn Malerba of Norwich, Conn., Marjorie Duhaime of Preston, Conn., and Frances Gauvin of Pembrooke, Ont; 26 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning, Sept. 14, 2001, at 11 at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., in Enosburg Falls, with Ted Hemenway officiating. Interment will follow in the Richford Center Cemetery.

Friends may call on the family at the Spears Funeral Home Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

ObituaryMar 26, 2011  OBITUARY: Florence A. Cameron, 86, a lifelong area resident, passed away early Friday, March 25, 2011, at the Northwestern Medical Center, with her loving family at her side.

Born on Aug. 21, 1924, in Montgomery, Florence was the daughter of the late Isadore and Alice (Farmer) Garrow. On Oct. 31, 1942, Florence married Alfred H. Cameron, who preceded her in death on March 1, 1997.

Florence worked many years for Russ Simonds as secretary in his cattle business and also operated a dairy farm with her husband, Alfred. She was a very active member of the Swanton/Missisquoi Lions Club, a member of the St. Albans Co-Operative Creamery and Organic Valley. She enjoyed her garden, fishing, bowling, a good game of Yahtzee and feeding her birds. Most of all she enjoyed being with her family.

Survivors include her children, Rod Cameron and his wife, Monica, of St. Albans, Carol Dupont and her husband, Alain, of St. Albans, Bea Coon and her husband, Greg, of St. Albans, Sandy Messier and her husband, Gary, of Stockbridge, Ga., Sherry Lee Juaire and her husband, David, of Fairfield, and Merry Souza and her husband, Richard, of Highgate; her siblings, Evelyn Malirbra and Margery Duhaine, both of Connecticut, and Leonard Garrow and his wife, Carol, of Georgia; her 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and two greatgreat-grandchildren. She is also survived by a special niece, Mickey Richard and her husband, Harry; a special nephew, Jim Rushford and his wife, Marge; and many nieces, nephews and friends she made with her association with the Lions Club. In addition to her parents and husband, Florence was preceded in death by her son, Alfred Cameron Jr; her daughter, Marian Puffett; her grandchildren, Shannon Coon, Amy Churchill, Jeremy Cameron, Jason Cameron; her great-grandchildren, Kadence White and Dominick Souza; and several brothers and sisters.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, March 28, 2011, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.

Casual dress is requested.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 29th, at 11 a.m. in Holy Angles Church on Lake Street. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

ObituaryAug 12, 1987  OBITUARY: NORWICH, Conn. – Harold A. Garrow, Sr., husband of Ann (Kissel) Melanson Garrow of 364 North Main St., died at the William F. Buckus Hospital on Aug. 7, 1987.

He was born April 27, 1927 in Montgomery, VT, son of the late Isadore and Alice (Farmer) Garrow. He married Ann Kissel on Aug. 7, 1965 in Norwich. He has been a resident of Norwich for 40 years and was employed at Norwich Hospital as a psychiatric aide for 18 years until retiring in 1969 due to illness.

Mr. Garrow was a veteran of World War II having served with the army and was a life member of Disabled American Veterans. He was a life member of VFW Post No. 9452 in Preston and was an All-American Commander from 1969-1974, the National Chief of Staff in 1975 and 1976 and the Quartermaster from 1974-1979. He received the George S. French Award in 1979.

He was a member of the Norwich Lodge of Elks No. 430, the American Association of Retired Persons and a past president of Psychiatric Aides Association and a member of the Connecticut State Employees Association.

Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Harold A., Jr. and Michael Melanson, both of Norwich; two daughters, Sandra Tefft of Preston and Jo-Ann Dorn of Uncasville, Conn; three brothers, Gordon of Montgomery, VT; Clifford of Waterbury, VT; and Leonard, of St. Albans, VT; four sisters. Mrs. Alfred (Florence) Cameron of St. Albans, VT; Mrs. Louis (Evelyn) Malerba and Marjorie Duhaime of Norwich, Conn; and Frances Gauvin of Pembrooke, Ont.

He was predeceased by a sister, Mrs. William (Marian) Revoet in May 1986, and a brother, Frank, in July 1986. He also leaves six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A military funeral was held Monday, Aug. 10, 1987 at 8:30 a.m. from the Narusiewicz-Woyasz Funeral Home in Norwich followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church at 9:30 a.m. Interment was in the family plot in St. Josephs Cemetery in Norwich.
