She was born in Berlin, N.H., on Oct. 14, 1934, a daughter of Isaie and Marie (Frechette) Roy, and had resided briefly in Ludlow before moving to Mount Holly in 1956. Her husband of 27 years, John C. Turco, died in 1980.

Rita's passion in life was taking care of people and her family. She loved making rosary beads out of real rose petals. She also enjoyed gardening, mowing lawns, making hooked rugs and selling maple syrup.

Survivors include her four sons, Vincent Turco and his wife, Peggy, Maurice Turco and his wife, Lori, Luke Turco and his wife, Kelly, and Mark Turco and his wife, Amy, all of Mount Holly; three brothers, Maurice Roy, Edmond Roy and Lionel Roy; three sisters, Therese Roy, Violet Grondin and Muriel Comeau; 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy McMahon, in 1999; and by a son, Christopher Turco, in 2007. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Laurier Roy, Noel Roy and Hormidas Roy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, North Main Street in Wallingford. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery in Ludlow.

Friends may call at the Adams & Kenney Funeral Home in Ludlow on Wednesday, July 20, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in her memory to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Vermont, 100 Dorset St. Suite 14, South Burlington, VT 05403.

Arrangements are in the care of Adams & Kenney Funeral Home of Ludlow.

ObituaryDec 31, 2008  OBITUARY: EAST BERKSHIRE – Joyce Marcy, age 81, widow of Ethan Marcy, passed away Tuesday morning December 30, 2008 at the Franklin County Rehab Facility in St. Albans. Joyce was born December 22, 1927 in Enosburgh the daughter of the late Frank & Ila (Greenia) Longley. Joyce was a lifelong resident of Enosburgh and Berkshire. She farmed along with her husband Ethan until his passing in1971 at which time she continued to farm until 1974 when she sold the farm. She then held various jobs from a hot lunch cook and janitor at Enosburg Falls High School, cooked and cleaned at the Dairy Center and finally delivering newspapers for the St. Albans Messenger from East Sheldon to Montgomery retiring in 1995. She was considered “Mom” to all. She enjoyed word search puzzles, playing solitaire, her birds, watching deer from her back window, going to lawn sales and watching Survivor. Most of all she loved her family and the time spent with her grandchildren. She is survived by 3 sons and their wives, Russell & Betty Marcy of Richford, Donny & Linda Marcy of Richford, David & Caroline Marcy of So. Richford; 3 daughters and their husbands, Evelyn & Wayne Jewett of Enosburg Falls, Barbara & Pete Dezotelle of Johnson, and Sally & Yves Brunelle of East Berkshire; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Eldora Longley of Windsor, Bernice Longley of Johnson, Beatrice Longe and her husband William of Berkshire, and Gladys Dolan and her husband Robert of Williamstown; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Joyce was predeceased by her brothers, Clarence, Thayer, Raymond, Merl, Leonard, and Cedric & Charles Longley; her sisters, Blanche Malone, Beatrice Malone, Hildred Greenwood, & Eunice Messier. Funeral services will be held Saturday January 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 6-9 PM at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls.
