Larose, age 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 29, 1950 in St. Albans to Rita (Giroux) Larose and the late Albert Larose. Mary attended elementary school in Berkshire, Enosburg, and Montgomery. At the age of 8 she was diagnosed with a brain tumor which left her legally blind. She then went on to attend the Perkins School for the Blind and the New York Institute for the Education of the Blind. Despite her disability, Mary lived an independent life to the fullest of her ability. She enjoyed her many years with Care Partners, was a member of the St. Albans PALS Group for the Blind and a devout member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mary was very talented and found happiness in many things including, knitting, crocheting, completing puzzles, making her signature peanut butter and chocolate fudge, beading and making jewelry, playing cards, games and bingo, telling jokes, making others smile, singing and dancing, horseback riding, giving foot rubs to all, but most of all spending time with her family, especially her cherished nieces and nephews. Mary will be remembered for her ability to bring laughter, and joy to everyone around her. She is survived by her mother, Rita (Giroux) Larose; her siblings, Claire Larose-Kaczmarczyk of Richford, Susan and her husband Pierre Dussault of Richford, Larry Larose and his wife Linda of Florida, Jean Jewett and her husband Daniel of Enosburg Falls, Diane Lumbra and her husband Lloyd of Berkshire, Michael Larose of Enosburg Falls, Barbara Hungerford and her husband Thomas of Swanton, Lisa Barnes of Enosburg, Lorraine McAllister and her husband Michael of Berkshire, and Jeannette Larivee and her husband James of St. Albans; her sisters-in-law, Sharon Larose of Enosburg Falls and Karen Larose of Swanton; a special aunt, Anita Mayhew; several aunts and uncles; and many, many nieces and nephews. Besides her father, Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Ronald, Andre and Stephen Larose; and her brother-in-law John Kaczmarczyk. Visitation will be held Friday, October 19, 2018 from 5-8:00 PM at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Missisquoi St., Enosburg Falls. Subsequently, five persons, perfectly naked were picked off her sides.” The Franklin Dexter was manned in part by four brothers, who included Captain James Wixon. The vessel hailed from Dennis, Massachusetts, but reports of the Wixons’ hometown conflict. In her memoir, Story Girl, famous Anne of Green Gables author Lucy Maude Montgomery published her grandfather’s recollections of the gale in which he said the Wixons were from Portland, Maine. Many other reports say they were from Dennis, however this may be an assumption based on the vessel’s homeport. Upon learning of the death of his four sons, Captain Wixon, Sr. traveled to PEI to bring his sons bodies home to his wife for burial in the family graveyard. The Franklin Dexter had gone ashore off Rustico and, after much searching, three of his son’s bodies were exhumed from a cemetery near there and, along with a fourth crewmember, were loaded aboard the schooner Seth Hall heading for the States. Captain Wixon himself went home by steamship. The peace the Wixons hoped to find by burying their sons at home would elude them. In March of 1852, The Islander reported the fate of the schooner Seth Hall: Schr. Seth Hall, of Dennis, got ashore on Prince Edward Island in the gale of Oct. 3rd, was got off and laden with potatoes for Dennis via Provincetown. Sailed from the Island about Nov. 23 and left Canso Harbor 28th, since which nothing has been heard from her. …She was a good vessel of 85 tons, two years old, valued at $4500. Donald enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR every Sunday, working, raising beef cattle with his sons and grandsons, and spending quality time with his cherished family. He will be remembered for his incredible work ethic, sense of humor, his ability to put others first, but most of all his kind and generous heart. He is survived by his wife, Penny Domina of Eden; their children, Donald Domina Jr. and his wife Laurie of Highgate, Ken Domina and his wife Angie of Eden, Paula Bidwell and her husband Seymour of Oklahoma, Gerald Domina and his significant other Donna Bennion of Enosburg, and Amy Domina of Johnson; his grandchildren, April, Donald III, Amber, Miranda, Levi, Selena, Autumn, Ashley, Adeline, Gerald M., Dominick, Logan, and Maddison; and his great grandchildren, Holden, Quinn, Tucker, Jaden, Gabrielle, Caleb, Alyx, and Braelyn. He has joined his wife of 64 years, Elaine, in Heaven and his spirit is carried on by their five children, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two surviving siblings, one in Vermont, the other in Texas, and an extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life. Eddie was a proud U.S. Korean War veteran and a 22-year member of Vermont National Guard. He was employed by the United States Postal Service for 40 years. He served as postmaster in Proctor for 17 years before retiring and enjoying the rest of his years being well taken care of by family. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Eddie during his 90 years, among them: Work hard to provide the best for your family. Attend Mass on Saturday evening so you can sleep in Sunday. Every soul deserves saving. Invite new friends to Thanksgiving dinner. Always have enough food to feed pleasantly unexpected guests. Recycle and don’t mistakenly put paper towels in the trashcan. Pop off each aluminum pop top to make the other guy’s job easier. Angel Hair pasta is best and must be cooked el dante. Always be a fair critic and wear a bib at the table. Keep every piece of mail and organize it precisely on the kitchen table. Fires on The Hill are where family and friends come together and all worries disappear. Shower and shave everyday and go heavy on the musk. Keep the police scanner on to know what is going on in the town. Keep the antenna up for the car phone to work correctly. Everybody passed deserves a smile. Everybody will be hugged. Every nursing home resident will be visited. Friends are family and family is everything. Keep the car keys on the front seat so they don’t get lost. Give to every charity that asks. Choose to believe the best about what they do with your money, no matter what your children say they discovered online. Thirty-people gatherings on a Saturday evening is an ordinary day - the more the merrier. You can never have too many pictures. He is survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose photos he would share with prospective friends in the waiting room, Francis (wife Janice, children Reid and Bryant), Edward (wife Kimberly, children Courtenay, Morgan and Kelsey), Paul (wife Anita, children Crystal and Curtis), Rena (children James and Nicole), and Dale (wife Debra, children Ryan and Olivia); siblings Gerald (wife Mary Ellen) and James (wife Jackie); and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten. Eddie is reunited with his beloved wife of 64 years, Elaine, and parents and predeceased by six siblings Paul E. Garrow and wife Pearl, Thomas Garrow, Gene Garrow, Irene Fridinger and husband Wilmer, Eleanor Corbett and husband Larry, Beverly Valette. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, in St. Dominic’s Church in Proctor. Burial will follow in South Street Cemetery. She was a mother who suffered the loss of her infant son, Craig. She is mourned by her children: Carla and spouse Hugh Lund, Sheila and partner Tony Cote, Steve and partner Diane Durocher. And their children: Adam and Sarah Lund and children, Isaiah and Natalie; Erik Lund and partner Rose David and children, Olivia and Cassandra; and Michael Lund. Ami English, partner Arthur Lefevre, and her children, Emma and fiance Hayden Tomlinson and Lily; and Gerry English and his fiance, Alicia Coburn. Nicholas and Stephanie Tarbox and children, Talen and Emmalyn; and Corrine Tarbox and partner Greg Fortin and children Myah and Caynan. Gertrude worked at Ethan Allen in Orleans for many years. She was a member of the Methodist/Orleans Federated Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, Orleans American Legion Auxiliary, Orleans High School Alumni committee, Orleans County Rod and Gun Club, and a 4-H leader. She had many trophies from the Barton Candlepin Bowling Alley and fishing derbies she attended with her family. She was very patriotic, flying the American flag everyday at her home. She loved parades and fireworks. Gertrude and her sister liked to visit area craft shows, chicken pie suppers, and the Irasburg Fair. She was an advocate for animals (except snakes) and passed out many a dog bone. She loved feeding birds and sometimes squirrels, but never crows or pigeons. Her family loved her baking, especially her apple, cherry, and custard pies and peanut butter frosted cakes. She liked watching golf on TV and fell in love with NFL football at Sheila’s home (dilly dilly). She attended the Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish Church with Sheila and Tony, enjoying the music and company of Father Prive and her church family. The family would like to thank the Lamoille Health and Hospice staff, especially Martha, Nicole, and Jodie for their excellent care and all the volunteers. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Feb 2 at 11 am at the Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 301 Brooklyn St, Morrisville, VT. A graveside service will be held this summer at Pleasant View Cemetery in Orleans, VT on July 16th. He was born on May 18, 1934 in Highgate Center to the late Henri & Maria (Gagne) Laroche. He attended St. Anne Academy, Swanton, Vt, Cardinal O’Connell Seminary and St. John Seminary in Boston, MA. He was ordained to the priesthood on February 3, 1961 at St. Louis Church, Highgate Center by Bishop Robert F. Joyce. His priestly ministry began as Parochial Vicar at All Saints in Richford from February 18, 1961 through February 7, 1964. He also served at St. Anthony’s in White River Junction from February 7, 1964 through May 5, 1966, St. Stephen’s in Winooski from May 28, 1966 through June 17, 1967, and St. Peter’s in Rutland from June 17, 1967 through July 20, 1971. His first pastorate was at St. Michael’s in Greensboro Bend from July 20, 1971 through June 29, 1977. He also served as Pastor at All Saints in Richford from June 29, 1977 through July 2, 1991, St. Mary’s in St. Albans from July 2, 1991 through August 21, 2006, and St. Patrick’s in Fairfield, and St. Anthony’s and St. George’s in East Fairfield from August 21, 2006 through June 29, 2012. Father Laroche was granted Senior Priest status on June 29, 2012. His diocesan responsibilities included Diocesan Personnel Board, Spiritual Director of Cursillo, and Chaplain to the Boy Scouts of America. Fr. Laroche was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, he received his Fourth Degree. He is survived by two sisters, Marieange Belanger, and Roseanna Paquette; and many nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Fr. Laroche was predeceased by his siblings, Lucienne Lambert, Leonard Laroche, Laurent Laroche, Florence Plant, Alice Paquette, Jean Marie Laroche, Yvonne Moreau, Clement Laroche, Theresa Paquette, and Gertrude Cook. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 25, 2019 from 4-7:00 PM at Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Canada St., Swanton with Bishop Christopher J. Coyne as principal celebrant. The Homilist will be Reverend Andrew Vill. Interment will follow in St. Louis Cemetery, Lamkin St., Highgate Center. She was born in Highgate Springs on March 20, 1921, the daughter of the late Henry & Melvina (Tracy) Beyor. Rooster was a lifelong resident of the Highgate/Swanton community. In her earlier years, Rooster was employed in the family businesses, the Bayview Hotel in Highgate Springs and Frank Rentz’s Sales and Service where they sold Artic Cat, Husqvarna and Indian Motorcycles. She was an avid outdoorswoman, she absolutely loved hunting, fishing and riding her motorcycle. She enjoyed telling stories of her past, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and worried everyone while she insisted on mowing her own lawn well in to her 90’s. She is survived by her siblings, Pearl Wilson of Swanton, Marie Bell and her husband, Don of Swanton, Madeline Bressette of Swanton, and Lawrence “Mac” Beyor of New Hampshire; a very special nephew/godson, Bruce Hakey and his wife, Carol of Swanton; a dear friend, Lena Gadouas; a special cousin, Linda Mulheron; and many nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, Rooster was predeceased by her husband, Frank Rentz; siblings, Ralph “Bob” Beyor, Carlton “Kike” Beyor, Marshall “Zeke” Beyor, Robert Beyor, Lucille “Toots” Hakey, Marion Brooks and Rita Benjamin; and brothers-in-law, Winfield Bessette, and George Hakey. Dudley Jr., age 58, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington. He was born on February 4, 1961, the son of Robert Sr. and Joyce L. (Hayes) Dudley. Bob grew up in Bakersfield and graduated from Enosburg Falls High School in1980. In his younger years Bob’s passion was for amateur boxing in the Golden Gloves of Vermont. He married Sue (Shortsleeve) Dudley on June 17, 1995. After graduation Bob worked for many years as a custodian at the Brigham Academy and at Bakersfield Elementary School. He became the owner and operated Pauline’s Quick Stop in Sheldon for 17 years, where you would be greeted with “just another day in paradise,” or “Livin’ the dream.” Bob loved spending time outside hunting, fishing, and cooking his famous fried turkeys while camping. He also enjoyed watching football games, going to NASCAR races, and spending time with family.
