ObituaryOct 28, 2003  OBITUARY: SWANTON -- Richard A. Quebec, 79, a longtime resident of 36 Platt Street in Swanton Village, died Monday morning, Oct. 27, 2003, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans City.

Born at home in Swanton he was the son of the late Ernest and Frances (Bohannon) Quebec. He attended Swanton High School and on Feb. 26, 1949, married the former Maxine Bourgeois who survives him.

For 27 years Richard had been associated with the former Union Carbide Corporation of St. Albans. He faithfully served his country in World War II in the United States Navy assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, 1 Star, American Theater Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal. He was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Charles DaPrato Post 778 in Swanton and the American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1 of St. Albans. He was also a Life Member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 1090 of St. Albans and was a devoted parishioner of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Swanton.

Richard will always be remembered for the extraordinary vegetable gardens that he planted each year and for his love of duck hunting and fishing.

In addition to his devoted wife Maxine of 54 years Richard leaves his sister, Irene Little of Hardwick; three sisters-in-law, Catherine Quebec, Pauline Duchanno and Lillian Bourgeois, all of Swanton; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A brother, Robert Quebec; and a sister, Evelyn Letourneau predeceased him.

At Richard's request there will be no public calling hours. A Graveside Service with full military honors will be held Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at 1 p.m. from the Quebec family lot in Riverside Cemetery Swanton. The Reverend Donald Morris, Rector of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Swanton will officiate.

In lieu of flowers gifts in his memory may be made to the, Franklin County Home health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478 or to Missisquoi Valley Rescue, P.O. Box 22, Swanton, Vt. 05488.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton.
