He was born on September 30, 1929, in Newport Center, a son of Floyd and Doris (Bowman) Tinker. On February 26, 1955, he married Nancy Grow, who predeceased him on July 16, 2004.

Mr. Tinker was a veteran of the Korean War where he served on the front line. For many years, he was a dairy farmer in Newport Center where he worked for Merton Thayer and Marty Before. His hobbies included going camping with his children and grandchildren and working on his puzzle books. He held membership with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #798.

He is survived by his children: Debra Young and her husband, Leland, of Albany, Sandra Benware and her husband, Larry, of Derby, Bernie Tinker and his wife, Betty, of Derby, Brian Tinker of Kentucky, Roger Tinker of Holland, Michael Tinker of Derby Line, and Diane McAllister and her husband, Scott, of Derby; by his grandchildren: Karen, Billy, Milo, Liza, Jaime, Jonathan, Eric, Meghan, Benjamin, Andrew, Aaron, Amanda, Kyle, Heather, Daniele, Marie, and Amy; by 32 great-grandchildren; by his brother Bruce Tinker of Barton; by his sister-in-law Betty Limlaw of Derby; by his nieces and nephews; and by very dear friends from Maine: Betty and Garry Spencer, Blanche Ranger, and Lori and Marty Before.

He was predeceased by his brother Dale Tinker and by his granddaughter Tanya Lynn Tinker.

Funeral services were held at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home in Newport on November 15 with the Reverend Frank Beaty officiating. Interment followed in the Newport Center Cemetery with full military honors.

ObituaryNov 25, 2010  OBITUARY: SOUTH BURLINGTON - Emily M. Keefe, 77, passed away peacefully in her home on Nov. 23, 2010 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on March 28, 1933 in North Clarendon, daughter of Herbert Wetherby and Mamie (Balch) Wetherby.

She graduated from Middletown Springs in the Class of '51. Following graduation she resided in Rutland, spending many happy years working as a waitress at Lindholm's Diner. It was there that she met her future husband, David J. Keefe, with whom she spent 51 years before his passing in July 2007. In the fall of '63, the family moved to South Burlington where they raised their three children. She was a long time employee of the South Burlington school system, working in the media center of Chamberlain Elementary School. Those were precious years to her, with good friends, good laughs and good memories. Emily's interests varied from crafts, cribbage, reading, birds, word searches, the daily jumble, game shows, shopping, going out to eat, traveling, computer, Facebook, Skype, family and friends.

Emily is survived by her three children, Tricia A. Smith (Ken) of Lake Wales, Fla., Diane K. Bacon (Dane) of South Burlington, and Kevin P. Keefe (Jane) of Auburn, N.H. She is also survived by her four grandsons, Ben and Scott Bacon and Travis and Kenan Smith; three grand- daughters, Brittany (who shared her birthday with Emily) and Nicole Keefe, and Chelsi Smith; and one great-grandson, Trevin Smith. From a large family, (1 of 16 children) Emily is survived by her siblings, Helen Rogers, Beverly Reardon, Roland, Ockie, Edward, Bruce and Mike Wetherby; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010 at 11 a.m. in St. John Vianney Church, Hinesburg Road, South Burlington, with a Christian Burial to follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery.

Arrangements are in the care of Stephen C. Gregory & Son Cremation Services, Shelburne.

ObituaryJul 9, 2007  OBITUARY: SOUTH BURLINGTON - On July 8, 2007, after a brief illness David J. Keefe passed away in his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 20, 1928, in Rutland, son of Patrick J. Keefe and Agnes Cummings Keefe.

He was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph, Class of '46. He served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952. Following his discharge from active duty, he attended UVM to study dentistry for two years, at which time he secured a position with Commercial Credit Corp., a company he loyally served for the next 26 years. He was later employed with the Merchants and Vermont Federal Banks. David was an avid sports fan (Go Red Sox - Go Celtics!) and was keen with the 'stats." He always began his mornings tuned into WJOY and chatting with Ginny McGee. A generous and giving person, he gave of his time coaching Little League and Youth Basketball. For many years he was an active member of the South Burlington Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed a good game of cribbage and poker. For 35 plus years, many summers were spent enjoying "KEEFE'S KAMP" on the shore of Lake Bomoseen. During his "golden years", he and his wife were blessed to winter in Lake Wales, Fla. Always the bargain hunter, David got the most bang for his buck!

He was married on Sept. 3, 1955, to his bride, Emily M. Wetherby, they would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary this fall.

David is survived by his wife, Emily of South Burlington; his daughter, Patricia A. Smith (Ken) of Lake Wales, daughter, Diane K. Bacon (Dane) of South Burlington; and son, Kevin P. Keefe (Jane) of Auburn N.H; sister, Mary Goodwin of Rutland; and brother, Gerald of Rutland and Lake Wales. He is also survived by four grandsons, Ben and Scott Bacon and Travis and Kenan Smith; four granddaughters, Jenny Smith Benson, Brittany and Nicole Keefe, and Chelsi Smith; one great-grandson, Trevin Smith.

He was predeceased by his parents, his infant sister, Patricia and his sister Sheila.

A loyal parishioner of St. John Vianney, David's faith was always a sustaining source of comfort to him. There will be no visiting hours.

A funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday, July 11, at 10 a.m. in St. John Vianney Church, Hinesburg Road, South Burlington, with a Christian burial to follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery.

Arrangements are in care of Stephen C. Gregory Cremation Services, Shelburne.
