ObituaryJul 30, 1995  OBITUARY: Mary H. Shiflett, 81, of Crozet, died Friday, July 28, 1995, in a local hospital. Born in Albemarle County on February 23, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Lemuel A. Shiflett and Beadie Shiflett. She was the widow of the late Russell H. Shiflett. Mrs. Shiflett was a member of Brown’s Cove United Methodist Church. Survivors include four sisters, Lela and her husband Andy, Virginia Shiflett and her husband Hobart, Shirley and Frank Staton, all of Brown’s Cove; one brother, Melvin Shiflett and his wife Mary, her aunt Beulah Holley, all of Crozet and a number of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors who will greatly miss her. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at the Teague Chapel with the Reverend Rodney Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. The family will greet their friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hospice Unit of Martha Jefferson Hospital, 459 Locust Ave., Charlottesville, Va 22901. Teague Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born December 7, 1925, in Sparrows Point, Maryland to the late Arthur C. Shiflett and the late Theresea Ann Shiflett.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Leo W. Shiflett; and a brother, Chester C. Shiflett and his wife, Theresa.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Carole Ann Johnson and her husband, Alvin, and Karen Jo Chisholm and her husband, David, both of Free Union; grandchildren, Billy and Theresa Johnson, Steve and Peggy Johnson, Kenneth and Tiffany Johnson, Corrie and Kevin Morris, Jason Chisholm, all of Free Union, Timothy Chisholm of Florida, and StaceyAnn Kendrick of Charlottesville; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister at heart, Mildred Gibson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Bruce Campbell, Dr. Cynthia Spaulding, Dr. Gordon Morris and to Hospice of the Piedmont.

The family will receive friends 6 until 7 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Teague Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2008, at Prize Hill Church conducted by the Reverend Richard Hayes.

Interment will follow in Prize Hill Churchyard. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Following the interment, there will be a reception at Good Shepard of the Hills Episcopal Church.
