She was a life long resident of Boonesville. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Cordellia Via. She is the widow of Henry Zermie Shiflett. She was also preceded in death by a son Alonzo Shiflett. Surviving are two sons Clarence Shiflett of White Hall and James Shiflett of Vienna. Five daughter Mrs.Claude Herring of Baltimore, Mrs Raymond Walton of Westminster Md. Mrs. Nellie Via and Mrs Violet Hedgpeth of Charlottesville and Mrs Carrie P. Shiflett and one brother Gallie Shiflett of Crozet. One sister Nattie Morris of Crozet. 35 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Friday in the Prize Hill Church with burial in the Church Cemetery. Preddy and Teague Funeral Home are in charge of arrangement.

She was born July 17, 1905 at Marseilles, the daughter of Edward and Laura (Rose) Gage. She married Ervin (Ted) Shifflette December 8, 1923 at Morris.

She was a member of the Hinckley United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Milan, of Hinckley and Theodore of Aurora; four daughters, Mrs. Bruce (Mildred) Dummer of Park Ridge, Mrs. Myrl (Shirley) Rissman, Mrs. LeRoy (Arlene) Madsen, and Mrs. Floyd (Marilea) Kaus, all of Hinckley; two brothers, Earl and Harry Gage, both of Ottawa; two sisters, Mrs. Joe (Marie) Knott of Ottawa and Mrs. James (Esther) Phillips of Denver, CO; 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Nash Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James O. Davis officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Hinckley.
