She was born in Bridgeport, Conn., on Oct. 27, 1947, the daughter of Thomas and Ida (O'Grady) Heffernan.
She received her education in Plattsburgh, N.Y., schools.
In 1967, she married William N. Patterson, who died in 2001.
Mrs. Patterson was employed as a clerk for the Department of Motor Vehicles in Bennington for several years.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington.
She enjoyed doing crafts like quilting and ceramics, and jigsaw puzzles.
Survivors include a son, W. Scott Patterson of Bennington; two brothers, Shaun Heffernan of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Mike Heffernan of New York; three sisters, Gail Wilson of Schenectady, N.Y., Ita Mary Yuncker of Kansas City, Mo., and Patricia Nortell of Oak Park, Ill; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington.
Private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
There are no calling hours scheduled.
Memorial contributions may be made to Best Friends Animal Shelter, through the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
