ObituaryMay 30, 2006  OBITUARY: MONTGOMERY - Douglas J. Tryhorne, age 90, passed away Sunday morning, May 28, 2006, at the Holiday House Facility in St. Albans with Pearl his loving wife of 69 years at his side.
He was born Aug. 3, 1915, in Sutton, Que. Canada, the son of the late Joy and Jesse (Spicer) Tryhorne.
He was a resident of Montgomery most of his life and was a member and Trustee of the Montgomery United Methodist Church and was active with the maintenance and upkeep of the church. He was also a member of the Montgomery Village Cemetery Association, Montgomery Select Board for six years, I.O.O.F. 63 of Enosburg Falls, American Legion Post 42 of Enosburg Falls, Lincoln Lodge F&AM 78 of Enosburg Falls, and the Mt. Sinai Shrine.
He started his working career at Atlas Plywood and then entered the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following his honorable discharge he was a self-employed painter in the area for several years and then became employed at the Lowell Asbestos Mines working there for 31 years retiring in 1980. While working at the mines he also owned and operated along with his wife, Pearl, a dairy farm and the Ideal Restaurant in Enosburg Falls.
He was an accomplished gardener, enjoyed watching birds, listening to country music. He was also a rock hound and while working at the mines he was intrigued with the different rock formations. In his younger years he enjoyed downhill skiing and was instrumental in creating Route 242 to Jay Peak. Most of all he loved his grandchildren and they loved to listen to his many stories.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl (Pudvah) Tryhorne of Montgomery/St. Albans, they were married Aug. 23, 1937; his daughter, F. Joy Bosley of Montgomery and her special friend, Charles Paquette of Maquam Shore; a son and his wife, David and Sally Tryhorne of Enosburg; his grandchildren, Matthew Tryhorne and his fianc'e, Mary Tetreault of Montgomery, Julie Tryhorne and her companion, Ernest Hart of Huntington, Jonathan Bosley and his wife, Sabine of Waterville, Jolene O'Connell and her husband, Ryan of Yarmouth, Mass; two brothers, George Shover and his wife, Donna of Enosburg, and Ronald Shover and his wife, Marion of Worcester; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Geraldine Yandow, and Mae Martin-Vessey; and a son-in-law, Stephen Bosley.
A graveside memorial service will be held Sunday, June 4, 2006, at 12 p.m. at the Montgomery Village Cemetery with Pastor Ed Sorrell officiating. There will be no visiting hours. Following the memorial service a Masonic service will be held at the cemetery and full military honors will be accorded to Doug.

Pearl was born on April 10, 1915 in Montgomery, the daughter of Francis and Eva (Rowse) Pudvah.
was a resident of Montgomery most of her life. Pearl was a member of the Montgomery Methodist Church and served on the board of trustees as well as always being an important part of any food committee.
In 1937, Pearl married Douglas Tryhorne and, shortly thereafter, moved to Springfield, VT where they worked in foundries, supporting the war effort. After Doug returned from the war, they purchased a farm in Montgomery with Jay Peak in the back yard and a panorama of beauty. Pearl was a full time, hard working hill farmer while Doug worked in the asbestos mines. She enjoyed many years of skiing with family and she also was a cook at Jay peak Ski Area.
Pearl's super cooking ability was showcased when she owned the Ideal Restaurant in Enosburg. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her growing family.
Surviving are Pearl's daughter, F. Joy Bosley of Montgomery and her special friend Charles Paquette of St. Albans Bay; her son, David Tryhorne and his wife Sally of Enosburg; grandchildren, Jonathan and Sabine Likhite - Bosley of Waterville, Jolene O'Connell of Richford, Matt and Mary Tryhorne of Montgomery, Julie Tryhorne and her companion Ernest Hart of Huntington; 3 great grandchildren, Anara Likhite - Bosley, Cooper O'Connell and Colin Hart; brothers-in-law and their wives, Ronald and Marion Shover of Worcester and George and Donna Shover of Enosburg; a special cousin Henry Rowse of Montgomery and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Pearl was predeceased by her husband Doug; brothers, Reginald and Richard Pudvah; sister, Phyllis Blodgett and son-in-law Steven Bosley.
Graveside services for Pearl will be held at a later date in the Montgomery Village Cemetery.

Phyllis was born Jan. 5, 1913, the daughter of Frank Pudvah, in Richford. In 1932, she married Mahlon Blodgett, who predeceased her in 1987. She was also predeceased by a son, Hollis Pudvah, in 1990; his son, Richard Pudvah, in 1995; a daughter, Carol Brothers, in 1994; and two brothers, Richard and Reginald.

During the early years of her marriage, Phyllis lived on a farm on West Hill in Montgomery. She always spoke very fondly of the joy of raising her children on West Hill. In the early 1960s, Phyllis and Mahlon moved to the town of Montgomery. While having worked at numerous places during her life, her fondest memories were of working at Jay Peak Resort for more than 30 years. She was the manager of the ""state side" of the resort, and many, many skiers looked forward to visiting her while spending the day at Jay. Many became lifelong friends; it was not unusual to find someone visiting Phyllis every day after she retired. One of her greatest joys came from cooking and caring for others. Phyllis touched many lives in her life and was loved by all. She had unending love and compassion, and her life was one of service to God, and her family. She greeted each day with a smile and will be extremely missed by all.

She is survived by two sons, Stanley Blodgett and his companion, Ruby Jones, of Enosburg Falls, and Owen Blodgett and his wife, Myra, of Massachusetts; two daughters-in-law, Rose Fontaine and her husband, Andy, and Margaret Pudvah and children Lori, Kathy, and Michael; and a sister, Pearl and her husband, Doug Tryhorne and their children, Joy and David. Visiting hours will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13. Funeral services will be held one hour later, at 11:00 a.m., in Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

Burial will take place in the spring in Hillside Cemetery in Richford. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 1139, Montpelier, VT 05601. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Birchwood Terrace for the wonderful care and love they gave to Phyllis the last years of her life.

Brad was a 1993 graduate of Richford High School. He enjoyed trapping, hunting and watching Star Trek and Star Wars. Brad will be remembered as a person that was always willing to help others that were in need.

He is survived by his mother, Jeannette Bosley of Berkshire; his sister, Tammi Nichols, her husband Jim and their children, Skyler & Hunter of Georgia; his great aunt, Charlotte Ramsdell of Swanton; his aunts & uncles, Aline & Robert Baker of Montgomery, Dennis & Patricia Couture of Bethel, Timothy Bosley of Berkshire, Kathleen Martin of Fairfax, and Joy Bosley of Montgomery; many cousins; a special friend Patti-Ann Draper of St. Albans. Besides his father, Brad was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Gerard “Judd” & Marie Couture; his paternal grandparents, Ralph & Barbara Bosley; and his uncle, Stephen Bosley.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Rev. Luke Austin officiating. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday December 14th from 9:00 AM until the hour of the funeral.

Ernest Bohannon, a son of Andrew Bohannon, of the west side of the river was shot while hunting rabbits Wednesday afternoon and died shortly after. Young Bonahhon was in company with a boy mate: Joseph Hoag, and accidentally dropped his gun on the ground, when it discharges, the charge entering the left groin. The injured boy was taken to the home of R. H. Barney, near-by and Dr. C. E. Allen was called, but death soon followed from internal hemorrhage. The boy was 20 years old.
