She was born February 27, 1933 in Alburgh to the late Issac & Ruth (Janes) Bohannon.

Grace was a life-long resident of Alburgh. She married Earle Collins on July 1, 1961. Grace had a strong work ethic and never truly retired. She worked in food service, manufacturing, and helped Earle run their dairy farm. She loved wildlife, especially her birds. Any visitor envied Grace for the blue birds and hummingbirds that would frequent her back porch.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Earle Collins of Alburgh; her sister, Bernice Blanchard of Alburgh; and many nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, Grace was predeceased by her siblings.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Bush Cemetery, Route 2, Alburgh, VT.

ObituaryMay 13, 2002  OBITUARY: ALBURG -- Elva I Maskell, 86, a lifelong resident of Alburg died early Sunday morning, May 12, 2002, with her loving family at her side in the Northwestern Medical Center, St. Albans.

Elva was born in Alburg, May 15, 1915. She was the daughter of the late Issac and Ruth (James) Bohannon. She attended school in Alburg Springs and married Peter Fortune, who predeceased her. Elva later married Ernest Maskell, who predeceased her in 1976.

Elva worked several different types of jobs during her work career. She was associated with Thermal Wire Co, was a cook for many years with the Blarney Stone Restaurant and did housecleaning for local people. Elva loved working and being with people. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards and always managed to get many laughs from her friends. Elva was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Elva was predeceased by a sister, Lydia (Teeny) Gaumache; four brothers, Phillip, Willard (Bill), Elwin (Buster), Delbert Bohannon; son-in-law, Raymond Cross; and grandson, Robert Cross.

Elva is survived by her children, Fred Fortune and his wife Jeannette of St. Albans, Mildred Stevenson and her husband Lynn of Clarenceville, Quebec, Marrietta Curfman of Nebraska, Eunice Cross of St. Albans, Wyman Maskell of Alburg, Issac (Jum) Maskell and his wife Cheryl of New York, Carl Maskell of Oklahoma; one brother, Howard Bohannon of St. Albans; two sisters, Grace Collins and her husband Earl and Bernice Bohannon of Alburg; also several sister-in-laws, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave. Swanton. The Reverend Dr. John C. Kehoe, pastor of the Union Bible Church in Alburg will officiate. Family and friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home on Wednesday, May 15, 2002, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will follow in the Maskell family lot in Riverside Cemetery, Swanton.

ObituaryMay 2, 2009  OBITUARY: Geneva O. Bohannon, 88, of Union Street, Waterbury, passed away in the comfort of her family at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin on Thursday, April 30, 2009. Born in Waterville on January 4, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Lela (Pepeau) Constantine. On May 21, 1943, she married Elwin J. "Buster" Bohannon in Waterbury. Buster predeceased Geneva on March 18, 1992.

Geneva attended Waterbury High School and then went on to receive her license as a practical nurse and her certification as a psychiatric technician at the Vermont State Hospital in Waterbury. She retired from VSH in 1984 after 31 years of service.

A member of Queen Esther Chapter 7, OES for more than 50 years, her other memberships included RSVP and the Red Hat Society. In her leisure time she enjoyed crocheting afghans, playing cards, and word puzzles. Geneva and Buster also took great pleasure in snowmobiling and camping.
The matriarch of a very close and loving family, Geneva is survived by two daughters, Sharlia Palmer and her husband Delbert of Waitsfield and Virginia Barton and her husband Bernard of Zephyrhills, FL; three grandchildren, Shawn Young and her husband Mark of Waitsfield, Susan Burbank of Waitsfield, and Dr. Andrew Barton and his fiancée Erin Lane of Newbury, MA. Geneva was lovingly called Grammie Donuts by her five great-grandchildren, Shannon, Ryan and Jared Young, and Sabrina and Natasha Burbank, all of Waitsfield. Geneva was predeceased by five sisters, Ramona Merrill, Reba Gladden, Evelyn Otis, Shirley Trombley and her twin sister, Jeanette Broadwell; a brother Omer Constantine; and a granddaughter, Shelah Palmer.

Graveside services were held from Hope Cemetery in Waterbury on Monday, May 4, at 11 a.m. There were no calling hours.

ObituaryOct 30, 2006  OBITUARY: ALBURGH - Mr. Howard Kenneth Bohannon, age 71 years, died Friday afternoon, Oct. 27, 2006, at the Franklin County Rehab Center in St. Albans Town.

Born at home in Alburgh on May 19, 1935, he was the son of the late Isaac and Ruth (James) Bohannon. He attended Alburgh Schools. In his earlier years he worked for a short time on the Central Vermont Railroad and later on the farm for his brother-in-law Earle Collins. He also did various jobs for people throughout the community including George Braely. He enjoyed country music and in his younger years played drums at the American Legion.

Howard leaves two sisters, Grace Collins and her husband Earle and Bernice Bohannon, all of Alburgh; three sisters-in-law, Geneva, Joanne and Diane Bohannon; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Lydia Gamache and Elva Maskell; and four brothers: Elwin, Philip, Delbert and Willard Bohannon.

A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. The Reverend Doctor John C. Kehoe will officiate. The Prayers of Committal and Interment will follow in the Bohannon family lot in Bush Cemetery, Alburgh Village. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
