Pat was born July 29, 1933, in Greensboro, Vt., to Richard Dean and Edna (Buker) Thompson. She married Richard E. Armour on Aug. 24, 1953, at Wheaton United Methodist Church. Richard passed away on April 25, 2005.

She worked as a crystal polisher for 38 years at the CTS Knights Co., and retired in 1996. She had currently been working at the Corner Tap in Sheridan and had always been active in community programs and projects.

She is survived by a her daughter, Gaila Haynes of Lincoln, Neb; her son, Bradley (Annessa) Armour of Sheridan; an adopted son, George Lawyer of Hinckley; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Adrien Dudley of Wallingford, Conn., and Vivian Umlah of Burkburnett, Texas; and a brother, Franklyn Thompson of McIndoes, Vt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Armour; three grandchildren; 12 siblings; and two sons-in-law.

A Rosary and Visitation will be held Sunday, June 1, 2025 from 6 umtil 8 p.m. at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2025 at St Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Burkburnett with Father Sam Ferix, officiant. The Rite of Committal will be private.

Born on February 17, 1937, in Greensboro Bend, VT to Richard and Edna Thompson; Vivian was the last living child of a large family of 16 children. Vivian graduated from Hardwick Academy in 1955 where she managed basketball and made many lifelong friends.

Vivian met the love of her life Don Umlah, in Connecticut, while working for Aetna Insurance. They married on June 22, 1957, in Greensboro Bend, Vt and celebrated many milestones through the years. As an USAF wife, she moved her family and supported her husband on various TDY's, overseas tours, furthering his education to reach the highest rank of an NCO – CMSgt.

Moving to Burkburnett in 1971, the Umlah family enjoyed many years of community involvement and lasting friendships. Vivian was a 53-year member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, a 27-year member of the Yellow Rose Sertoma Club, 54-year member of St Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, NARFE, multiple bowling leagues and the local TOPS chapter. She was a waitress at Ruth's café in Burkburnett and Denny's restaurant in Wichita Falls before she retired.

Her greatest love was her family, who she left behind to cherish her memory: Dee Dee (Wade) Harris of Burkburnett, Randy Umlah of Wichita Falls, Marion (Mike) Newell of Vernon, and Marguerite (Brian) Love of Burkburnett; her grandchildren Scottie (Jamie) Williams, Jacob (Sarah) Guffey, Kristin( Jason) Johnson, Elizabeth (Cody) Noggler, Jayson (Lauren) Love and Caleb Newell; great-grandchildren Shelby, Dani, Randi, Jadyn, Porter, Henry, Gunner, Heidi and Gauge and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Welcoming her home was the Thompson Clan, her beloved husband of 67 years Don Umlah (the Tiger to her Kitten), grandson Danny Williams Jr, and son-in-law Hollis Guffey Jr. What a glorious reunion it was.

Vivian will be remembered for her love of family, quick wit, sassiness, great sense of humor, and her ability to whip up a meal on a budget or find someone a job. Her most favored nickname was "The Warden" and the Neighborhood Watch Lady. Rest Easy, Momma. We will take it from here.

A special thanks to Hospice of Wichita Falls, Healing Hands Healthcare, and Visiting Angels (Suzie Erickson) for their loving care of mother during her final months.

ObituaryMay 14, 2017  OBITUARY: SWANTON — Barbara (Bobby) J. Frey, 90, peacefully slipped the bonds of this earth and traveled to her new heavenly home on May 13, 2017, to join her friends and family that have left this earth before her. Bobby was born in Swanton, Vt. in 1926. In 1931, she moved to Greenwich, Conn. There, she was educated and then employed by The Greenwich Trust Company as a file clerk. After many promotions and 40 years of service, she retired in 1982 as assistant vice president and assistant manager of the Byram office.

Bobby enjoyed retirement as a snowbird, in Swanton, Vt. in the summer and Dunedin, Fla. in the winter months. For over 50 years she was active in the “Little White Church by the Lake” in West Swanton, Vt. and gave her time freely at both the Swanton, Vt. library and the Dunedin, Fla. library. Bobby enjoyed playing an integral role in the Skyloch Villas Women’s Club, where she wore many hats including secretary/treasurer for many years. Even after she left the community, she was encouraged to attend all of the functions that were held there. She was often treated like a celebrity upon her arrival to any event she attended.

Bobby is survived by eight nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews as well as a multitude of friends. She was pre-deceased by her parents and two sisters and two brothers.

Per her request, there are no calling hours. Instead, a celebration of her life will be held in Swanton, Vt. at the “Little White Church by the Lake” on Aug. 12, 2017 at 11 a.m.

She was born January 28, 1923 and was the wife of Thomas H. Pretorius and daughter of Frank and Marie Benke of Roswell, New Mexico. She grew up in Roswell, N.M. during the great depression. Helen worked 20 years as a Federal Civilian employee with experience as a Personnel Management Specialist in Washington, D.C. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband Thomas H. Pretorius of Plano. She is the last surviving sibling, preceded in death by A.J. Benke of Bogalosa, LA; Frank Benke of Pittsburg, PA; Alice Hoffman of Plano, TX; Bertha Gosciewski of Renton WA; Dorothy Brewington of Roswell, N.M; Sylvester Benke, Regina Benke, Zita Crowder and Mary Ann Benke.

Helen was happily married for 59 years to Thomas H. Pretorius. Helen’s life included many moves across the country due to her husband’s work which enabled her to leave a legacy of love and friendship in many different places.

Survivors include sons Harold T. Pretorius, MD, PhD. and wife Rosa M. Robles, MD of Cincinnati, OH; R. Gerald Pretorius, MD and wife Kate Turnbull Pretorius of Redlands, CA; Mark E. Pretorius, MD and wife Laurie Pretorius of Plano, TX; James F. Pretorius, MD of Potter Valley, CA; daughter Dolores H. Pretorius MD of Del Mar, CA and step-son Thomas H. Pretorius of Medford, OR. She dearly loved her thirteen grandchildren Marc, Carl, Sally, Mathew, Jo, Grace, Miles, Novella, Tanya, Kate, Kelly, David and Shawn. Helen was also blessed with thirteen great grandchildren and twenty-four nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at Dallas-FW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas, 75236 at 1:30 PM on October 30, 2020. Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic attendance is limited.
