ObituaryJan 20, 2003  OBITUARY: Stephen Bronchuk of Northampton, 87, of 14 Butternut Lane, died Saturday at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

Born in the Roxbury section of Boston, December 10, 1915, he was the son of the late Michael and Xenia (Horoshuk) Bronchuk.

He was educated in Boston schools and attended M.I.T. in Boston. He lived in the Boston area for most of his life, moving to Northampton 11 years ago.

He was a World War II Army Veteran participating in the D-Day invasion and the Battle of the Bulge.

He worked at the Boston Globe for over 20 years as a printer and later a compositor, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral in Boston, the Boston YMCA Outing Club. He was an avid candlepin bowler.

His wife, Mary G. (Gavriluk) Bronchuk died in August 2002. He is survived by 2 sons; Stephen M. Bronchuk of Leominister, and Daniel A. Bronchuk of Swanton, VT., a daughter; Stephanie B. Kelly of Northampton, a brother Michael Bronchuk of Rockland, MA, 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The Funeral will be Monday at 2PM in the St. Xenia Russian Orthodox Church, in Methuen, MA. Burial will follow in the St. Peter and St. Paul's Cemetery in Methuen. There are no Calling Hours. The Ahearn Funeral Home in NORTHAMPTON is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial Donations may be made to either the American Diabetes Assoc., 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450, or to the St. Xenia Orthodox Church, 170 North Lowell St., PO Box 147, Methuen, MA 01844-0147.

ObituaryJul 18, 1996  OBITUARY: Lucille T. (Kimball) Spaney, 87, of Nashua, died Tuesday morning, July 16, 1996, at the Southern New Hampshire Regional Medical Center.

A school teacher for many years, she had positions in Vermont, Massachusetts and Nashua. The latter part of her career was spent as an English teacher at Nashua High and junior high schools.

Mrs. Spaney was a long-time member of The First Church Congregational, United Church of Christ. She had been a strong supporter of church fairs and other functions in years past.

A tournament bridge player, Mrs. Spaney was a gold-life master, holding more American Contract Bridge League points than anyone else in New Hampshire. She enjoyed her many trips to bridge events and the friends made over many eyars. Spending recent winters in Florida, she was a regular player in Venice, Englewood and Sarasota bridge groups.

In earlier years, Mrs. Spaney was an accomplished tennis player, golfer, and curler at the Nashua Country Club. She had been a member of the N.H. Women's Golf Association and the U.S. Women's Curling League.

Mrs. Spaney was particularly active in the King's Daughters' Benevolent Association, which operated a boys orphanage here in town. She was fond of mentoring the boys and taking them on outings. She was also an active board member of the Adult Learning Center.

Her other organizational affiliations included the Retired Teachers' Association, the Nashaway Women's Club, the Nashua Historical Society, the Nashua Garden Club, the Theatre Guild, and the Humane Society.

She attended local schools, and was a graduate of Nashua High School and Boston University.

Mrs. Spaney was the wife of Frederick Spaney, and they had just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary at the Nashua Country Club on July 9.

Born in Nashua on March 9, 1909, she was the daughter of the late John P. and Alice (Tolles) Kimball, and granddaughter of the late Gen. Jason E. Tolles, one-time mayor of Nashua.

For many years Mr. and Mrs. Spaney had a second home in Moultonborough. They spent summers there visiting with friends, boating, and touring the lake and mountain country side.

She was predeceased by a brother, Jason S. Kimball, and his son, Jason S. Kimball Jr.

Besides her husband, survivors include a daughter, Lucinda T. Spaney of Lexington, Mass; a cousin, Frederic E. Shaw, of Nashua; three nephews and their wives, William C. and Susan Thompson of Westerly, R.I., Alexander F. and Dorothy Thompson of Westerly, R.I., and Richard H. and Mary Thompson of Longmeadow, Mass; a niece, Judith T. Kimball, of Rock Island, Ill; and several grandnieces, grandnephews and other relatives from out of state.

The Davis Funeral Home in Nashua is in charge of arrangements.

ObituaryJul 22, 1999  OBITUARY: Frederick Spaney Jr., 85, of Nashua, died Tuesday, July 20, 1999, en route to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Spaney was born May 31, 1914, in New York City, son of the late Frederick and Letitia (Heaslip) Spaney Sr., and had lived in Nashua since 1935.

He was the widower of Lucille Tolles (Kimball) Spaney, to whom he had been married for 59 years. She died in 1996.

Mr. Spaney worked in Glen Cove, N.Y. and New Jersey before being employed by Nashua Corp. in 1935, where he worked in laboratory development. In 1968, he started the computer supplies division, which was later renamed the computer products division, and became group vice president and director in 1971. He retired in 1979.

After retirement, he worked with Dr. W. Edwards Deming in introducing statistical quality methods to Nashua Corp.

Mr. Spaney was director of the American Red Cross in Nashua, a member of the initial Nashua Capital Improvements Commitee in the '70s and trustee of the Hunt Community in the '80s. He was president of the Nashua Country Club, and member of the board of directors at the former Nashua Memorial hospital. He enjoyed curling, boating, golfing and playing tennis and bridge. He had a hole-in-one at the Shore Acres in Sebasco Estates in Maine in 1961.

He graduated from Newburyport (Mass.) High School in 1930, where he played on the track team. He attended MIT at the age of 16 and graduated in 1934 with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.

Besides his wife, Mr. Spaney was predeceased by a sister, Helen Spaney Thompson.

Survivors include a daughter, Lucinda Tolles Spaney of Lexington, Mass; three nephews, William Thompson III and his wife, Susan, and A. Frederick Thompson and his wife, Dorothy, all of Westerly, R.I., and Richard Thompson and his wife, Mary of Longmeadow, Mass; a niece, Judith Tilton Kimball of Rock Island, Ill; a cousin, Muriel Evans Shaw of Nashua; and many friends, including Ellen Arouchon of Nashua.
