She was the daughter of CHARLES ALDRICH and LUCINDA (FIELDS) ALDRICH.

Funeral services for Mrs. John Olney, who died last Saturday at her home in Culdesac, will be held from the Brower-Wann chapel Tuesday at 1:30. Burial will be in Normal Hill.

Survivors include a son, Hanes Olney, Lewiston; three daughters, Mrs. Maude Taylor, Coachella, Calif; Mrs. Lillias Hammond, Culdesac, and Mrs. Maybell Holloway, Sweetwater; two brothers, Bill Aldrich, Portland, Ore; Henry Aldrich, The Dalles, Ore; a sister Mrs. Mary Klaus, Spokane; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the reorganized church of the Latter Day Saints."

She was born Dec. 30, 1905, at Gifford to John and Alvira Aldridge Olney. She lived at Culdesac until 1924.

Lillias and Franklin E. Hammond were married Oct. 16, 1924, at Asotin. They traveled to California where they lived at Sagus and Lone Pine until returning to Gifford in 1928. Their first son Vernon was born in California. She and Frank farmed in the Gifford area until they moved to Culdesac to help her mother after her father passed away. Her husband died Jan. 13, 1990.

She worked for the Culdesac School Hot Lunch Program for two years before taking a job with the Department of Lands Craig Mountain Fire Protection District in the 1960s. She worked at the Black Pine Camp near Soldiers Meadow, where she cooked for fire crews. She moved to Juniper Meadows in December 1997 until January, then to Royal Plaza until her death.

Lillias was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and also served as a councilwoman for the City of Culdesac for six years in the 1970s. She was also one of the first members and helped to organize the Culdesac Quick Response Unit.

Her interests were many. She enjoyed cooking, especially baking, sewing, handicrafts, hunting, fishing, camping, all outdoor activities, gardening and preserving, and especially spending time with family. Her main interest in the past few years has been crocheting. She had crocheted an afghan for each of her children, grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Survivors include one son, James C. Hammond of Lewiston; one daughter, Margery A. Munsterman of Culdesac; 21 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A daughter, Rosalee; two sons, Delbert (Bud) and Vernon; one brother, Hanes; and two sisters, Maude and Mable, preceded her in death.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lewis Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston. The Rev. Tex Newman of the Culdesac Community Church will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Mountain View Funeral Home.

Memorials may be sent to the Culdesac Quick Response Unit.

ObituaryApr 28, 1999  OBITUARY: A graveside service for Hilda M. Olney of Spokane, a former Lewiston resident, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston.

The Rev. Betty Smith of the First United Methodist Church of Lewiston will officiate.

Olney, 95, died of congestive heart failure April 18 at the Good Samaritan Extended Care Unit in Spokane.

She was born June 16, 1903, in Melrose, near Peck, to James A. and Emma B. Frost Fritz.

She married Hanes Olney at Lewiston in 1920. From 1924 to 1928 they lived at Agate Beach, Ore.

They returned to Lewiston in 1928 and lived here until 1969, when they moved to Spokane to be closer to their families.

Her husband died in 1970 and she moved to an apartment in Spokane and became the manager of 12 units there. She continued to manage the apartments until a year ago, when poor health forced her to move to Mission Ridge, an assisted living center. She was hospitalized in February and then moved to the care center.

She was a member of the Valley First United Methodist Church for 20 years and a former member of the Rebecca Lodge.

Survivors include two daughters, Wanda E. Johnson and Vera M. Shaw, both of Spokane; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggests any memorials be made to the Morning Star Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 8087, Spokane 99203-0087.

ObituaryJul 14, 2012  OBITUARY: Allen was born on May 9, 1924 and passed away peacefully at home July 8, 2012 at the age of 88. He was a beloved, respected and cherished husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Iris; daughter Elaine; son Toby; daughter Melody; son Curtis; 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Allen was born in PA and in his teens relocated to ID. After his 4 years of naval service, he and his wife settled in Mira Loma, CA in 1950 where they bought an acre of land. There he built his family home, farmed and hobbied in wood work. In 1982 he retired from the Riverside DOT Road Maintenance division after 32 years of dedication. He loved whole-heartedly his family, friends and church. He will be missed and fondly remembered. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 17 at 11AM at Pierce Bros. Crestlawn Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow at Pierce Bros. Crestlawn Memorial Park. Please visit www.piercebros crestlawn.com to offer condolences.

Survivors at the time of death included his wife Lucinda, 9 half-siblings (from the marriage of Ellery & Cynthia), all 8 of his children, and 29+ grandchildren.
