ObituaryFeb 15, 2018  OBITUARY: BERKSHIRE – Our loving mother, Bertha V. Dudley, age 98, passed on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

She was born in Knowlton, Quebec, Canada on November 13, 1919 to the late Edwin & Virginia (Ross) Page.

Bertha grew up and went to school in Canada. She worked as a meat cutter in Montreal for a short time before returning to help on the family farm. In the 1940’s she moved to Vermont to be with her husband, Herbert Dudley, Sr., they were married in 1945. Bertha and Herbert raised 6 children on their farm in West Berkshire. Aside from working on the farm, Bertha was the caretaker for the school house in West Berkshire. Bertha and Herbert sold the farm in the late 1960’s and remained in West Berkshire before moving to St. Albans in 1985.

Her kitchen was always open, and she looked forward to feeding, hosting and loving her family and close friends. Bertha was a kind and caring soul; her faith was her guiding compass and her children will always remember the abundance of love she had to offer. Aside from spending time with her family, Bertha’s favorite hobbies were gardening, sewing, crocheting, and cooking. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.

She is survived by her 6 children; Lois McDonald and her husband Keith of St. Catharines, Ontario, CA, Diane Beauregard and her husband Yves of Berkshire, Sue Piche and her husband Bob of Spring Hill, FL, Herbert Dudley Jr. and his wife Marshia of Enosburg Falls, George Dudley of Ellenton, FL and Arnold Dudley and his wife Cindy of Berkshire; 15 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; Steve Ashline and all of her special friends from Hawk’s Nest in St. Albans and many nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, Bertha was predeceased by her husband, Herbert Dudley Sr. and her siblings, Walter, Bernard, Kenneth, Harry, Ross, Hugh, Leslie, Minnie, Hattie, Ethel & Elizabeth.

Bertha’s family would like to thank the staff from Northwestern Medical Center for the excellent care she received.

A funeral service will be held Monday, February 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. Interment will be held this spring in the East Franklin Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Monday at Spears Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.

ObituaryMar 21, 2015  OBITUARY: ENOSBURG FALLS - Bertrand L. Lussier, age 87, passed away Friday evening March 20, 2015 at his home in Enosburg Falls.

He was born May 18, 1927 at home in East Albany, VT the son of the late Antonio & Georgianna (Letourneau) Lussier

In 1946 Bert enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving during WWII on the USS Manchester in the Atlantic Theater. He received his honorable discharge in 1949. Following his discharge, Bert worked for a brief time at General Motors in Massachusetts and then returned to Vermont where he bought and sold farms throughout the state. He also was a logger, sugar maker, heavy equipment operator, salesman, land speculator, cattle dealer and in his earlier years owned and managed a Ford tractor dealership in Hardwick. He was best known around the state as an auction Ring Man. He also built the Pine Cone Snack Bar in East Berkshire where he also built Berkshire's first baseball fields.

He was an active member of the American Legion Post #42 in Enosburg Falls where he served as the post Service Officer and in 2014 he was honored with a plaque on the legion "Wall of Honor".

He is survived by his children, Parma Jewett and her husband Duane of Montgomery, Brent Lussier and his wife Cindy of Enosburg Falls, Sandra Lussier of Vancouver, WA, Suzette Draheim of Brookings, OR, and Terrance Lussier and his wife Debbie of Redman, OR; 6 Grandchildren & 7 great grandchildren; his companion of 35 years, Sandi Murphy of Enosburg Falls and her children, Matt & Luke Murphy; and Sandi's 6 grandchildren; his siblings, Lucille Sanville of Craftsbury, Yolande Bracci of Florida, Noel Lussier and his wife Barbara of Florida, and Bernard Lussier and his wife Linda of Craftsbury; his sisters-in-law, Beatrice Lussier of Berkshire, and Evelyn Lussier of Lyndonville; many nieces and nephews including Larry & Bea's children and their families whom affectionately referred to Bert as Uncle Pepe. Besides his parents, Bert was predeceased by his brothers, Laurent & Roger Lussier, and his sisters, Marielle Stone & Lorraine Lussier.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 222 Missisquoi St., Enosburg Falls with Rev. Roger Charbonneau celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be held later this spring in the Berkshire Center Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4-7 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

ObituaryOct 11, 2011  OBITUARY: FRANKLIN - Arthur J. Larivee, age 77 passed away October 9, 2011 following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 29, 1933 in Berkshire, VT, son of the late Arthur J. Larivee of Sutton, Quebec and Bess (Crickx) Larivee. He was one of nine children. Arthur was a man who truly loved nature and was part of nature while being a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. As a great outdoorsman, who spent much of his life in the wilderness, fishing the streams, hunting and trapping the mountains and farming the land. Most times, he was joined by his children and friends, teaching his family the basic morals of life, but he also sought solitude and solace there as well. In 1953, at the age of 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Agile and surefooted, he fit right in when stationed at Newfoundland Air Force Base, where he became Port Motor Pool Transportation Officer and a trained and certified M1 Grand and 45 Colt Rifle Marksmen and Crew Serve Weapon. Some of his many duties included moving ammo, artillery and missile supplies support for troops abroad. He was honorably discharged in 1955. In 1955 he returned to Vermont and met the love of his life, Theresa. They soon married November 7, 1959 and had six wonderful children. Arthur was very proud of his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Michel) Larivee of Franklin, VT; sons Daniel Larivee and his wife Jacqueline of Franklin; Johnny Larivee and his wife Nancy of Franklin; Mark Larivee and his wife Anne of Berkshire; Zel Larivee and his wife Lisa of Franklin; daughters Susan Larivee of Franklin and Robin Larivee of Franklin; grandchildren Megan, Katie, Sarah, Jamie, Amanda, Timothy, Cody, Anthony, Seth, Luc and Benjamin Larivee and great grandson, Jeremiah Ovitt, and very special nephew Paul Michel. He was also a father figure to many. He is also survived by his brothers, David Larivee and wife Betty, Ross Larivee and wife Louise, sisters-in-law Elaine Larivee and Mary Larivee and numerous nieces and nephews. Arthur was predeceased by his parents, brothers Guy, Orville, and Stanley, sisters Ruby, Cecile, and Frieda. At Arthur’s request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A family graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Franklin, VT on Wednesday, October 12th at 11 am. ObituarySep 10, 2007  OBITUARY: MONTGOMERY CENTER – Josephine A. Elkins, 89, a resident of Montgomery Center, died peacefully at her home on Friday evening, Sept. 7, 2007. Josephine was born on Aug. 3, 1918, in Lowell, Vt., the daughter of Lewis and Anna (King) Greene. She was married to Clayton Elkins, who died on Aug. 26, 1990. In her earlier years, Josephine worked in the Forrest Hills Factory Outlet in Winooski. She was a communicant of St. Isidore's Parish in Montgomery Center. Josephine is survived by a son and his wife, Michael and Margaret "Maggie" Elkins of Montgomery; three daughters and their husbands, Maxine and Warren Farrar of Richford, Janice and James Adams of Fairfield, and Deanna and Roger Carr of Berkshire; two brothers, Joseph Greene of Winooski and William "Bill" Greene of Enosburg Falls; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Josephine was predeceased by four siblings, Clara Wetherby of Winchester, N.H., Peter Greene, Glendon Greene, and Oressa Greene. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at 11 a.m. at St. Isidore's Catholic Church in Montgomery Center.

Interment will follow in St. Isidore's Cemetery in Montgomery Center. There will be no calling hours.
