ObituaryDec 30, 1990  OBITUARY: Dr. Wayne C. Barnes, 87, of 107 Shaker Road, a retired internist and cardiologist, died Thursday in Baystate Medical Center.

He had practiced with the Springfield Medical Group and was on the staff of the Baystate Medical Center for 42 years, retiring at the age of 75.

Born in Lowell, he graduated from Springfield College, where he was a member of its international gymnastics team.

He also taught three years at Pomfret Academy in Connecticut before entering Tufts College Medical School, where he received his medical degree in 1932.

His long association with Baystate Medical Center began with his internship after medical school.

He served as resident at the Sanitorium Division at Boston City Hospital. He was named to the Diplomate Board of Internal Medicine and the American College of Cardiology. He was a fellow in the American College of Physicians.

An Army major during World War II, he served in the Pacific as an internist and cardiologist with the 42nd General Hospital in the Philippines.

He was on the first hospital ship to dock at Yokohama, Japan, four weeks after the Hiroshima bombing. The ship helped care for 17,000 allied POWs.

He was a member of the South Congregational Church, where he served as a deacon.

He was also a corporator of Springfield College.

He served as chief of medicine, president of the medical staff and as staff representative on the board of trustees at Baystate Medical Center.

He leaves his wife of 58 years, the former Violet M. Memery; a son, Wayne C. Barnes Jr., of Laurel, Md; two daughters, Sally Earl of Houston and Pamela Grazio of Cumberland, Md; a brother, Maynard of Longmeadow; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Jan. 6 in the afternoon in South Church Chapel.

Dickinson-Streeter Funeral Service is in charge.

ObituaryFeb 2, 2008  OBITUARY: SUDBURY-Flora M. (Nelson) Haskett, 95, of Sudbury, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at Concord Health Care Center in Concord. She was the wife of the late Arvo Santti and Leslie Haskett.

Born in East Bridgewater on September 28, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Eugene L. and Jennie Ruth(Hurd) Haskett.

Mrs. Haskett married and settled in Waltham, Where she was employed for many years at the Waltham Watch Factory. She later went on to receive her nursing degree and worked at the Metropolitan State Hospital in Waltham until her retirement.

During her spare time she enjoyed travel, bowling, bingo, crafts and reading. She was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching Sunday football. She also enjoyed the outdoors, taking long walks around Walden Pond and her greatest love was her flower gardens.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Caroline Greene and her husband, Valmont, of Sudbury; two granddaughters, Susan Babb of Marshfield and Linda Ryan and her husband, Jim, of Marlborough; and three great-grandchildren, David Babb and Benjamin and Nicholas Ryan.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Feb. 3, 2008, at 1:30 p.m., at The Sudbury United Methodist Church, 215 Old Sudbury Road, Sudbury. Visitation, prior to the service, is from 1 to 1:30 p.m., in the Sanctuary. Interment will follow in the family plot in New Town Cemetery, Sudbury.
