ObituaryJan 5, 2023  OBITUARY: MORRISVILLE: Ray Dana Marckres, 96, of Morrisville formerly of Stowe, where he had lived most of his life, died Thursday December 29, 2022 at UVM Medical Center in Burlington.

He was born July 27, 1926 in Eden; the son of the late Elmer D. and Helen (Peterson) Marckres. Ray graduated from Stowe High School in the class of 1944.

He first married Florence Chase in 1951. She died and he later married Pauline Drinkwine, who also predeceased him.

Ray worked on a poultry farm in Stowe for 18 years. He later was employed by the Stowe Public School system, where he held a janitorial position for more than 29 year. He retired in 1967. He was an avid reader and enjoyed time with his family.

Survivors include: a daughter, Sheila Jourdan of Hyde Park; one sister, Edna Anair and her husband, Reginald of Underhill; three grandchildren, David Jourdan, Dana Jourdan and his wife, Nicole Hill and Trevor Jourdan, a great grand-daugther, Leah Jourdan, all of Hyde Park; as well as nieces and nephews.

In addition to his two wives, Ray was also predeceased by a son, Aaron Marckres in 2016; a son-in-law, Larry Jourdan in 2015; siblings, Lyle Marckres, Winfred Marckres and Thelma Moulton.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the United Community Church in Morrisville with Pastor Becca Girrell, officiating. Burial will be held in the spring the River Bank Cemetery in Stowe.4

ObituarySep 29, 2008  OBITUARY: WATERBURY - Carmi Donald Touchette, Jr., 68, of Stowe Street, passed away in the comfort of Hospice care in Jacksonville N.C., where he was being treated for cancer, on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008. Born in Stowe on Aug. 21, 1940, Carmi was the son of the late Carmi D. and Nettie (Miller) Touchette, Sr. He was previously married to the former Sharon Allen.
Carmi was a 1958 graduate of Stowe High School and in that same year, enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, serving for four years. Upon his discharge, Carmi continued his military service, first with the Army National Guard in Waterbury for four years; the United States Marine Corp. Reserve in Tampa, Fla. for four years and then serving four years with the Army National Guard in Tampa. Remaining in Tampa, Carmi worked in the road and bridge construction field for several years and then returned to Waterbury where he has since made his home. Carmi was a proud and longtime member of the Harry N. Cutting American Legion Post #59 of Waterbury where he served as Sergeant of Arms, in the color guard, as service officer and adjutant. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling.
Carmi is survived by his children, Tony Touchette of Duxbury, Shawnn Touchette of Elmore and Tanya Lynn Touchette; several grandchildren; a sister, Rebecca Brunton of Richford; two brothers, Edward Touchette Sr. and Raymond Touchette, both of Duxbury; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waterbury on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow at the Waterbury American Legion Home on Stowe Street. Inurnment will take place in Riverbank Cemetery in Stowe. The family requests that flowers be omitted; rather memorial gifts would be appreciated to the Harry N. Cutting American Legion Post #59, 16 Stowe Street, Waterbury VT 05676. To send on-line condolences please visit www.perkinsparker.com. Assisting the family is the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Waterbury.
