Researcher's Note* Born 12 March 1652 and baptized at the First Church on 16 April 1652. He married Ann Carr of Salisbury, Massachusetts, United States, on Nov. 25, 1678. Thomas was quite well educated for the times and held a prominent position in both the Church and the community of Salem. He was in the Narragansett fight and belonged to a company of Troopers as a Sergeant. He was also Parish Clerk in his Church.

In 1692, he was leader in the "Salem Witchcraft" Trials. One of the accused witches was his own daughter, Ann. The strain of all this seems to have been a bit too much for he and his wife. They both died shortly after the trials. Thomas died on 24 May 1699 and Ann Carr Putnam, his wife, two weeks later on 8 June 1699.3
