She was born in St. Albans on April 14, 1953 the daughter of the late Harry & Mattie (Putnam) Lacross.

Mary’s working career started at Misty Mountain Sewing Factory and the Dairy Center. She then worked in Custodial Services as a supervisor at Smugglers Notch for 33 years retiring in 2013. Mary enjoyed bird watching especially Cardinals, gardening, crocheting, crafts, painting, and traveling to Maine & Florida. While in Florida she loved to watch the dolphins. Most of all Mary loved and cherished the time spent with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her fiancé, Robert Burns of Enosburg Falls; her children, Jeannette Hogle and her husband Scott of St. Albans, Chad Bapp and his wife Heather of Berkshire, and Rae Bapp and her boyfriend Josh Popple of St. Albans; Bobs children, Robert Burns and his wife Becky of Berkshire, Ricky Burns and his wife Lisa of Enosburg Falls, Robin White and her husband Kermit of Berkshire, and Rodney Burns and his wife Jennifer of Enosburg Falls; 24 grandchildren, Brendan, Sebastian, Chelsea, Caleb, Scott, Jaylynn, Peggy, Kyle, Rocky, Josh, Dustin, Hunter, Bethany, Destiney, Jesse, Dustin, Amie, Alyssa, Alex, Justin, Alec, Hannah, Sophie & Luke; 12 great grandchildren, Peyton, Ryland, Kellan, Carson, Logan, Ava, Blake, Aaliyah, Jayden, Quincy, Chloe & Miley; her brothers, Ivan Lacross of Suffield, CT and Cecil Lacross and his wife Frances of East Enosburgh; her sister, Marlene Williams of Franklin; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful companion, Lassie. Ernie was born October 5, 1945 in Colchester, VT the son of the late Herbert & Jeannette (Blow) Bapp.


Ernie grew up in Underhill and was a graduate of Jericho High School. His Senior class was instrumental with the naming of Mount Mansfield Union High School. Following high school he entered the U.S. Army and upon receiving his honorable discharge he served several years with the Vermont National Guard. His working career started at Villeneuve Lumber and then went on to work construction for 30 years for Pizzagalli Construction, Jedco Construction, and Colton Construction. He then went to work for IBM for 10 years.

Ernie had many hobbies, including, hunting, fishing, and watching wrestling. He also treasured his red Chevrolet Impala convertible.

He is survived by his children, Jeannette Bapp of St. Albans, Chad Bapp and his wife Heather of Berkshire, and Rae Ann Bapp of St. Albans, and Sarah Gates of Eden; 7 grandchildren; his brothers, Maurice Bapp of Belvidere, and Jack Bapp and his wife LeeAnn of Enosburg Falls; his sisters, Audrey Blow of Essex Jct, Beatrice Bapp of Enosburg Falls, and Pauline Baker and her husband Jerry of Enosburg Falls; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Ernie was predeceased by his wife, Jackie Bapp; his brothers, Robert & Scott Bapp; his sisters, Annette Atherton, and Elsie Nolan; his nephew, Wayne Baker; and his canine companions, Luna & Zippy.

A memorial service will be held Monday, February 12, 2018 at 5:00PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Rev. Lyle Willey officiating. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in the Underhill Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.

ObituaryMay 28, 1983  OBITUARY: Caroline B. Mahoney, 82, of Daytona Beach, FL and former resident of West Palm Beach, died Wednesday, May 25, 1983 at Memorial Hospital in Ormond Beach, FL. Born in Canso, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Mrs. Mahoney came to the United States as a young woman, settling in the Moston, Mass. Area. She was the widow of the late James H. Mahoney, who died in December, 1979. She and her husband, Jim, were residents of West Palm Beach for over 50 years. Mrs. Mahoney moved to Daytona Beach in 1979.

She was a member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church in West Palm Beach and was a life member of Court Palm Beach #780 Catholic Daughters of America in West Palm Beach.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Margaret M. Lacatski of Daytona Beach; a sister, Mrs. Blanche Perry of Canso, Nova Scotia, Canada; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Rosary services will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 1983, at Quattlebaum-Holleman-Burse Funeral Home, 1201 South Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 28 at St. John Fisher Church in West Palm Beach. Interment will follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, May 27.
