ObituaryAug 7, 2009  OBITUARY: SHELDON - Roswell "Tiny" Corwell, age 81 years, died late Wednesday evening, Aug. 5, 2009, at the St. Albans Health and Rehabilitation Center in St. Albans Town.

Born in Sheldon, Vt. on, July 14, 1928, he was the son of the late Fay and

Gertrude (Ladue) Corwell. received his early education in East Highgate and completed his college degree while serving in the United States Army. On Feb. 2, 1957, he married the former Elfriede Hofmann who predeceased him on June 30, 2008 following 51 years of marriage.

Tiny faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during both World War II and the Korean Conflict. was a highly decor at-veteran receiving the Occupation Medal Japan AR 600-65, Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal and received the my's Good Conduct Medal five times. He was honorably discharged as

Sergeant and Medical Specialist (Optician) following 31 years of active military service. During his military career he and his wife lived in several parts of this country also including many years in Germany.

They recently returned to the United States residing in Woods Hill in Sheldon. While living in Germany he became a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and also belonged to the American Canadian Grand Lodge A.F.&A.M. as a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner.

He leaves his daughter, Linda Corwell of Sheldon, and her children Lisa Corwell of Germany and Oliver Corwell of Sheldon; son, Roswell Corwell Jr., his wife, Mary, and their three children of Columbus, S.C; his brother, Wayne Corwell and wife, Sylvia, of Sheldon; a sister Betty Brooks of Glasgow, Ky; a sister-in-law, Monica Strobel of Leesburg, Va. as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides his parents and his wife, Tiny was prede-ceased by a sister, Mable Durack and three brothers, Fay, Edwin and Richard Corwell.

A funeral service will held Saturday, Aug.15, 2009, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, (802-868-3331). The Reverend Doctor Marguerite C. Gage, pastor of the Swanton Memorial and Sheldon United Methodist Parishes will officiate. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Corwell family lot in the Rice Hill Cemetery, Sheldon. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral. Gifts in His memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1460, Williston, 05495-1460.

Born in Fuerth, Germany on April 7, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Ludwig and Fanny Hofmann. She received her education in Germany and on Feb. 2, 1957, was married to Roswell "Tiny" Corwell who survives her. Mr. Corwell was associated with the United States Military for 21 years and together they lived in several parts of this country and many years in Germany. They recently returned to the United States residing on Woods Hill in Sheldon. Elfriede was a devoted homemaker and mother who very much loved her family and grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Roswell "Tiny" of 51 years, she leaves a daughter, Linda Corwell of Sheldon; two grandchildren, Lisa Corwell of Germany, and Oliver Corwell of Sheldon; three sisters, Monica Strobel of Virginia, Ruth Bemis of Nevada, and Renate Blome of Germany; one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Wayne and Sylvia Corwell of Sheldon, Betty Brooks of Kentucky, and Dorothy Corwell of Sheldon; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Elfriede was predeceased by a sister, Lotte Wade; and a brother, Heinz Hofmann.

Bor n in Sheldon, Vt. on Nov. 6, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Fay Sr. and Gertrude (Ledue) Corwell. She attended schools in Highgate and was married to Hugh M. Raymond, who predeceased her in 1951. On Aug. 30, 1953, she married Garland Durack, who predeceased her on Jan. 30, 2001.

Prior to her retirement in 1996, Mrs. Durack had been associated for 17 years with the Food Science Corporation in Essex, Vt. In earlier years, and while living in Fair Haven, she had been associated with Polino's Florist. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Mrs. Durack leaves her four children and their spouses, Hugh and Jean Raymond of Milton, Edwin and Colleen Raymond of Bomoseen, Judy and Daniel Coppins of Cambridge, Ohio, and Richard and Kelly Durack of St. Albans; grandchildren, Carrie Raymond and companion, Ryan Hammond of Fairfax, Amy Hilder and husband, Pete of Hampton, N.Y., Jennifer Raymond of Bomoseen, Christopher Coppins and wife, Elizabeth of Fairfax, Ashlee Coppins of Cambridge, Ohio, Alicia McQuain and husband, John of Cambridge, Ohio, Stephanie Racine and husband, Jim of Milton, and Steven Durack of St. Albans; a sister, Betty Brooks of Glasgow, Ky; and two brothers, Roswell Corwell of Germany and Wayne Corwell of Sheldon.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. Durack was predeceased by a son, Arnold B. Durack; and brothers, Fay Jr., Richard and Edwin Corwell.

A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, June 9, 2007, at 11 a.m. from the family lot in the East Franklin Cemetery. The Reverend Jason McConnell will officiate.

She had also lived in Bridgeport, CT before moving back to Richford in the 1960’s. While living in Richford she worked as a care giver to several families in the Richford community. Sybil was a very active member of the Order of Eastern Star Martha Washington Chapter # 44, served as the Grand Marshall and the grand representative of West Virginia & Colorado. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Richford. She enjoyed playing BINGO, going on the senior citizen gambling trips to the casinos in Montreal & New York. She also liked to play cards whether it was 500 or 31. She is survived by her sister and her husband, Charity & Rene Lavoie of Newburg, PA; her brother and his wife, Sidney & Linda Wright of East Hartford, CT; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Sybil was predeceased by her husband, Ernest E. Fecteau; 2 sisters, Cora Belle Steinhour, and Ida Mae Burnham; and 4 brothers, Lyndon, Raymond, Clifford & Irving Wright. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the East Richford Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the hour of the funeral. ObituaryOct 30, 2011  OBITUARY: EDITH H. (EDIE) KENT Of Corrales and Albuquerque, New Mexico, died Friday evening, October 28, 2011, at the age of 86, of natural, age-related causes. Edie was born in Evanston, Illinois (just north of Chicago) on December 14, 1924. Edie was the youngest of four children born to Wiley E. Hosier and Merle Deane Hosier. She was predeceased by her eldest sister Julia Hosier(who died in infancy); her brother, William A. Hosier, of Massachusetts (who died in 1999); her sister and close confidant, Julie Deane Jones, of North Carolina (who died in 2009). She was also predeceased by her brother-in-law, John M. Hoar, of Concord New Hampshire (who died in 2010). Edie graduated with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio, in 1946. She worked as a hospital lab technologist at St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago for three years until 1949, and married Richard B. (Dick) Kent, who had been her college sweetheart, on June 2, 1949 at the home of her parents in Terre Haute, Indiana. Edie and Dick lived for a short time thereafter in Dayton, Ohio, where Edie worked in the laboratory at Memorial Hospital. Edie and Dick were both free spirits in their time, and they left the Midwest in 1950 for adventure and a fresh start in the Land of Enchantment. They lived in Albuquerque for a year and settled in Corrales in 1951, where they built an adobe home with their own hands and lived together and raised a family for 37 years until Dick's death in 1988, and where Edie lived independently for 21 more years. Edie worked as a medical lab technologist at the old Santa Fe Railway Hospital in Albuquerque after her arrival in New Mexico and until she was ready to raise a family. Edie gave life to three sons, Brian Kent (Ann Mahaffey), Jason Kent (Denise Bissell), and Guy Kent (Vicki Ellison Kent), and four grandsons, Brady Kent, Drew Kent, Carson Kent and Spencer Kent. She is also survived by much loved nieces and nephews from Massachusetts, North Carolina and New Hampshire. Edie was an at-home wife and mother after her first child was born and until her children were all in school. She then returned to work as a medical lab technologist for several doctors' offices in Albuquerque, with her lengthiest time being spent at the offices of Drs. Hanold, Beeson and Seibert. At about the time all her children had graduated from high school, Edie retired as a lab technologist and instead put those same skills to work as the home-dialysis (kidney machine) technologist and care giver for her husband Dick, who needed to go on dialysis in 1973 due to end stage renal failure. Edie kept Dick alive on hemo-dialysis for 15 years, and also worked as an office assistant in Dick's photography business for most of those years until she and Dick retired in 1985. In addition, Edie volunteered for many years at the Corrales Community Library and the First Unitarian Church in Albuquerque. She was a member of the First Unitarian Church for almost 50 years. Edie lived the last year of her life in the tender care of Carmen and Curtis Hudson of Touched by a White Dove Assisted Care in Albuquerque. Edie was a wonderful, sweet person. She was exceptionally kind, even to the crawly creatures that often invaded her Corrales home. She gave her love freely to family, friends, and even to strangers. She endured much, including living with severe rheumatoid arthritis for more than thirty years. She had a keen mind and an easy homespun sense of humor. She possessed a forceful will and strong moral convictions, but she was non-judgmental and forgave easily. She taught by example and lived with gratitude, acceptance and grace. Edie was one of a kind. There will be a memorial service for Edie conducted at the First Unitarian Church, 3701 Carlisle Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico, 87110, commencing at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 26, 2011 (the Saturday after Thanksgiving), with Christine Robinson officiating. Those so inclined may make a donation in Edie's name to the Friends of the Corrales Library (FOCL), PO Box 1586, Corrales, New Mexico 87048, or to any favorite charity, in lieu of flowers.
