ObituaryJan 18, 2014  OBITUARY: RICHFORD - Janice Ellen Nunez, age 83, widow of Edward R. Nunez, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans with her loving family at her side.

She was born September 15, 1930 in Richford the daughter of the late Lynwood P. & Christine L. (Young) Gibney.

Janice was a resident of Richford most of her life. She was a 1948 graduate of Richford High School and a member of All Saints Catholic Church. Janice had worked many jobs through the years including times at Brouilette's Dept. Store for Clarice Tibbits, Monsoon's, Sewing Factory, bar tending at Roger's Grill and helping with activities at Our Lady of the Meadows with all of these business's being located in Richford. She also helped Pete Dussault at Skoozy's Store in East Berkshire and was associated with Arthur's Dept. Store in Morrisville.

Janice enjoyed reading and going to the library, flowers, cooking (Mexican Food), playing cards and traveling. She loved the roll of being Ed's wife and caring for him. Family was very important to Janice; she enjoyed spending time with family as well as having family come to visit her, especially her nephew, Terry Gibney who Janice & Ed considered a son.

She is survived by her daughters; Candice Anne Corey and her husband Daniel of Richford and Debra Hildebrand and her husband Jon of Essex; her grandchildren, Mathew James Corey, Saralee Macari and her husband Darin, Brian Nelson Tessier Jr., Jessica Tessier and Travis Lee Tessier and his wife Nicole; her great grandchildren, Makenna, Ella, Sean-Michael, Michael, Chia, Aiden, Derek & Kasey; her sisters-in-law, Susan Dussault and her husband Peter and Betty Carrilo of Tucson, AZ; her brother-in-law, Bob LaDuke of Montebllo, CA; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Janice was predeceased by her husband, Edward Rudolph Nunez; and her brothers, Larry James Gibney and Lynwood Lauren Gibney.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 20, 2014 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church 155 Main St., Richford with Rev. Karl Hahr celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls on Monday from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM.

ObituaryFeb 15, 2017  OBITUARY: FAIR HAVEN - Gail E. Thayer, 76, of Fair Haven, died Tuesday evening August 12, 2014, at Rutland Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born July 2, 1938, in Rutland, the daughter of Dale and Ethel (Noe) Erwin.

Mrs. Thayer received her nurse training at St. Joseph's Infant Home in Troy, N.Y., and had been employed at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home and as a home health aid for several years prior to becoming a receptionist at Rhapunzel's Hair Salon until her retirement.

She was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church.

Mrs. Thayer volunteered as a foster grandparent at VAC for many years.

She enjoyed crocheting, traveling and her daughter's cats, Bootsie and Mittens.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann Marie Thayer, and her companion, Richard Wells, of Fair Haven, a son, George R. Thayer Jr., and his wife, Ruth, of Austin, Ark; two sisters: Muriel Frazier and her husband, Bill, of Whitehall, N.Y., and Cynthia Abatiell and her husband, Jim, of Rutland; three grandchildren: Joseph Sheldon, Jeremiah Sheldon and Bethany Niswonger and their spouses, nine great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Thayer was predeceased by her husband, George R. Thayer Sr., on August 12, 2002.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Monday at the Durfee Funeral Home, 119 North Main St., Fair Haven.

Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery.

A reception will follow at the Fair Haven American Legion.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rutland County Humane Society Inc., 765 Stevens Road, Pittsford, VT 05763.

ObituaryFeb 21, 1995  OBITUARY: WORCESTER - James F. Lyons Jr., 65, of 52 Country Club Blvd., a longtime truck driver and softball coach, died Friday in the Veterans Administration Hospital, West Roxbury, after a short illness.

He leaves three sons, James F. Lyons III of Worcester, Robert J. Lyons of Westminster Station, Vt., and Micheal J. Lyons of Gardner; three daughters, Donna Lyons of Worcester, Sandra Gauthier of Brattleboro, Vt., and Kim Lyons of Gardner; and five grandchildren. He was born in Montreal, Quebec, son of James F. and Albertine (Robichaud) Lyons, and lived here most of his life. Mr. Lyons was a Army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Lyons was a truck driver for many years for Denholm & McKay Co. department store, Sears, Roebuck and Co., and Capitol Toy Co. He then worked at the former Lincoln Lanes and was later a security guard at the Harold D. Donohue Federal Building, retiring last year. Mr. Lyons was a softball player and coach for many years and an avid bowler. He was a former member of the Grafton Hill Post, American Legion.

The funeral will be held tomorrow from Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., with a Mass at 1 p.m. in St. Bernard's Church, 228 Lincoln St. Burial will be Thursday in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Calling hours are 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham 01701.
