ObituaryNov 9, 2002  OBITUARY: HILLSBOROUGH Mrs. Annie Pearl Knight Roberts o 823 Hawkins Road, Cedar Grove, NC passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 6, peacefully after a short illness. At the time of her death, her much loved friends Jane and Jim Sparks were with her. Annie was born in Granville County, NC on October 7, 1910 to Charlie and Lizzie Knight, the ninth of twelve children, Her beloved brothers and sisters Ida, Herbert, Blanche, Bessie, Alonzo, Doll, Sis, Willie, Lorene, Clinton and Beaulah all predeceased her as did her beloved nephew Douglas Williams.
After the death of her parents, she moved to Mebane, NC where she met and married the late Clyde Taylor Roberts on September 26, 1929. They were happily married for 57 years. With this marriage she acquired 8 brother and sister in laws, Tom, Cora, Rainy, Annie, Vance, Jeff, Ruth, and Ora from this marriage came one much loved child, Clyde Tommy Roberts.
Annie Robert's most cherished roles in life were that of wife and mother. She had a wonderful smile and a quick and ready wit. She laughed often. She loved her husband, her son, and her large family. She liked flowers and always enjoyed the summer vegetable garden, sewing and her church. She enjoyed life.
She is survived by her son, and many nieces and nephews and friends. She will be missed. A service will be held at Walnut Grove Methodist Church, Saturday, November 9th at 11am. A reception following the service will be in the Fellowship hall. Burial will be followed in the Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Russell Roberts, Todd Roberts, Barry Roberts, Robert Burton, Bob Reaves, Bill McCormick, Carlton McKee and Billy Hawkins. Honorary Pallbearers are Jim Sparks and James Knight. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Walnut Grove Church Building fund OCIM Meals on Wheels or to a charity of one's choice.

ObituaryJul 27, 1998  OBITUARY: HILLSBOROUGH -- Mr. Zephaniah (Zep) Reid Roberts, 88, died Saturday, July 25, 1998. Mr. Roberts was born in Orange County to William Rainey Roberts and Eva Reid Roberts on February 11, 1910. He was the oldest of five children. Mr. Roberts lived and worked in Hillsborough for 70 years. He worked in Coleman Laws Hardware for 30 years. He had been a member of Hillsborough Presbyterian Church for 43 years. He was a veteran of World War II and an active member of Schley American Legion.

Mr. Roberts is survived by Margaret Phelps Roberts, his wife of 63 years. He is also survived by a son, Kenneth Bryan Roberts and wife, Catherine, Charlotte; a daughter, Susan Roberts Hendricks and husband, Joe, Hillsborough; a sister, Louise Roberts Clayton, Hillsborough; five grandchildren, Kelly Roberts Brown, Charlotte, Blair Walker Roberts, Columbia, S.C., Donna Roberts McMasters, Graham, Billy Roberts, Efland, and Matthew Jordan Hendricks, Hillsborough; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Roberts was predeceased by a son, Reid Phelps Roberts.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, at Hillsborough Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Debbie Taylor; burial in the Hillsborough Town Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Walker's Funeral Home 7-9 p.m. Monday, July 27, and also at the home of Joe and Susan Hendricks, 2124 Hwy.86 N. Pallbearers will be Billy Roberts, Matthew Hendricks, Danny McMasters, Paul Brown, Mike Latta, and Bill Latta. Contributions may be made to Hillsborough Presbyterian Church.
